"Monk Strength Question"
I'm just wonering if I'm missing something with my monk. For martial arts he needs dexterity and speed, for close combat he needs senses and intelligence, for critical strike he needs senses and speed and for psionics he needs senses and intelligence. Does the boy need no strength? Should strength be something he works on later after I've maxed other stats or what? Just seems odd that he is one of my best fighters but his strength is only at 50. Would he hit for even more damage if pumped his strength or would he just be able to carry more?

1. "RE: Monk Strength Question"
For every point above 50, strength should increase the damage you do with hands and feet by 2% I think. So if you had a strength of 75, you would do 50% more damage. If you max strength you will get the expert skill Powerstrike.

those attributes you mentioned, affect the building only of the skills. it doesn't really affect how well the skill is used, merely allows it to increase faster.
Stregnth affects damage, with all and any weapons, among other things. low STR penalizes the character, high STR grants a bonus, 2% per STR point above 50 for all weapons, but 1% for whips.
Dex and SPD help you get more attacks, and swings in each attack.
for Spells, Intelligense and Senses only help development of Psionics skill.
Piety helps you get more spell points, as well as small stanima improvements.
in the character review screen, check out his attack ratings (upper right corner)
equip an item that improves STR (if you have any), and watch the stats.

although you might already know, the +2% per STR on all weapons(except wisp) mean melee weapons (close and extented)

For traditional range weapons, STR add 1% per point and for moden weapon, STR do not help in damage.

6. "Define "weapon""
OK, just so I'm clear...when you say weapons, my hands and feet are included in that cataogry right? Or do I have to have something equiped? Man, this is just one of the reasons I don't play monk very often.

7. "RE: Define "weapon""
hands and feet are close range weapons, as the game sees them.
they are special, in that unlike all the other 1 handed weapons, Dual Weapons does NOT apply. i.e. putting points torward Dual Weapons at level up, for an unarmed monk, is a waste. equip a staff in the off hand, and then Dual weapons comes into play.
STR helps or hurts all melee weapons' damages, depending on the value.
