"pickpocketing/shoplifting; Braffit called me a heretic!"
I shoplifted a bunch of stuff from Lord Braffit and I actually tried selling it back to him but it didn't give me any money ... he knew it was a stolen item. Anyway when I went back to him later, he won't talk or trade with me, he'll just say "Heretic!" I tried resting to resolve the problem but then after resting a few times, Braffit became hostile and attacked me. So I just reloaded a save from before I shoplifted from Braffit. I'm not going to shoplift or pickpocket again.

he probably saw you.
you could, try selling the stuff you can't use to another NPC, and maybe Braffit will forget it.
