"Tips for Wizardry 8"
What tips can tou guys give for this game? My tip is never to rest in an area with lots of monsters all over.

hide in small rooms, and close the door, to rest. even when monsters find you, you've got a big honken shield in the way, and you can shoot through it, if your close enough.
if you must rest in a fairly open area, find a wall, and put your back to it. preferably in a corner.
use the terrain to your advantage, if you are at the top of the hill, enemies will have a hard time throwing/spitting/firing weapons at you, but you can easily pick them off.
pickpocket skill, is incredibly useful for getting things not in the shopkeeper's shoplist. like a pair of Steel Gauntlets from Burz, early on.

As far as resting goes, you should try to cast shadow hound whenever possible, and rest at an area change boundary. If you get attacked by superpowerful monsters, you can simply run to the next area, and they won't follow you.

Resting in huts that don't have doors or in crevices is usually a good idea, but can sometimes result in the death of your party, with no chance of escape, if superpowerful monsters find you.

For example, I was resting with a level 10 party in the Monastery-Arnika Road and was awakened by higardi brigands and cultists. The cultists kept casting whipping rocks while the brigands were fighting me and eventually killed my entire party.

Another time I was in the mine area and slept in a hut. A group of helligators attacked my level 12 party and demolished them in no time at all. I couldn't escape.

Acquire and use the long term protective spells early. Missle Shield protects against more than just arrow ad knife attacks. Enchanted Blade fortifies your attacks. Armorplate fortifies your defenses. Maguc Shield protects against general attackks. These spells are guud for you , get them , use them
