I will assume Lower Monestary, as you did not mention which area.
Where, precisely are you stuck at?
basically, explore, search, open doors by lockpicking, defeat enemies, go up ramps (there are surprisingly, no stairs in the lower monestary, merely ramps, stairs must not have been invented yet)
head to the litle river down there. a bridge needs to be activated, and then you can cross, to some good treasure. then, activate the bridge again, this time, while standing on it (in the middle, as I've had some trouble elseware, got crushed, for some odd reason)
then, make your way to Burz, who is outside. upgrade and sell your equipment, if you want (worth it, as he will have arrows for your ranger, and stones for your slings)
then, go the other way, from the bridge, and take a left.follow that path, to some more enemies (helps build skills, for you will need them)
when ready for a challenge, after resting, and saving, from the T intersection, go strait, but do be careful.

You are only as brave as the challenges you take on

thank you. i did all that... what i meant was - i seem to have covered the entire monastery. do i just leave? like the same way i got in? how do i get to arnika? what am i supposed to do? is the statue w/ the pool of water significant (yes, i opened all the boxes)? how bout the trap door - went down there once and got my psionic killed...grrrr. you're very helpful. thanx

3. "Exit, stage left"
You have to get to the upper monastery, then find the door that exits (to arnika Road). The path to the uppper monastery is behind the closed grate (where you fought Gregor).

Yes, walking around will help. Fortunately you don't need to walk very far. If you are facing the closed grate, there should be a passage to your left. Search down there and you will come across a very useful button. You will also come across an interesting statue, but that's not related to the grate.

so i got the safe key. i don't see any other button......sorry, i'm so damn clueless. i been walkin around for a LONG time!

There is a room at the end of a passage off of the same hallway that leads to the statue room (safe key). The passage is on the right. In the room you are attacked by a group of spiders that come from the ceiling. On the back wall there is a switch that opens the gate. You can watch the gate go up through the window next to the switch.

another tip - the path is uphill. you will be going up, up, and almost away, through a narrow, long hallway.
also are some items, and a endlessly retriggerable trap, so you can build up your heal wounds spell.
just search around. it's quite easy, once you get rid of the enemies around.
