From within you can complete some quests that will eventually get you into the Mt.Gigas caves. No boats as far as I know. Also, Umpani Camp is where I want to go, but the Arnika road only goes north to the Monastery. "RE: Coupla questions" If I remember correctly (no map in front of me), instead of turning east toward the monastery, stay north and you will reach the Northern Wilderness.
