"game crashes.. menu'z screwed"
This is a slightly weird problem that neither me, nor my techie friends have been able to figure out.
I have 2 systems running <Athlone 1100 and Duron 800>
On the 1100 Wizardry 8 runs fine. On the 800 the game crashes anytime I click on a door, etc that requires an item.
eg: vault in Monastery, idol on 6th bough
Also: most of my menu'z are screwed up too.. the button for ID item says remove curse.... in atributes Str is labelled as Int, etc.
Can someone PLEASE tell me whats going on
<Flee>

You have the patch installed incorrectly. Some files in your wiz 8 directory are read only, and some unzip programs will not overwrite them. Unzip the patch into a different directory, and then manually copy it into the wiz 8 directory. Using winzip works too, because it will overwrite those read only files.

If your still having the crash problem, then you may ALSO have a corrupt file in the game (you definitely have the patch not installed correctly problem). There have been cases where the levels.slf file becomes corrupt. Copy the same file from CD 3 levels subdirectory and overwrite it on your hard drive.

If you still have problems, then reinstall, and repatch.

Llevram, don't you recognize these problem by now?
