"Nessie"
LAST EDITED ON Aug-02-03 AT 02:19 PM (Pacific)

Okay, I haven't gone to Bayjin yet, but when I do I intend to eventually kill Nessie, even though I really don't want to cause I like 'er. Anyhoo, what is the best way to kill Ness in all of you people's opinions? And I mean that by like telling me how you killed her or whatnot, not like asking my party's levels to take into consideration since I haven't a faintest idea what levels I'll be/spells I'll have/etc. once I do eventually kill good ol' Nessie.

My first idea is to drive her Insane, Hex her, Bless my party, maybe Terror-ize her, give everybody a Guardian Angel and put up an Element Sheild and Armorplate, perhaps Nauseate her or K.O. her, and then give her a Canned Elemental to chew on while I knock the crud outta her while my alchy or ninja Heals everybody. Good idea?

And, is it worth it to get close so my ninja can use the Cane 'o Corpus on her?

Ki:
My first advice would be to make sure that you have either several potions of canned elementals, or several characters who can throw it. Throw up the best defensive spells you can (Armorplate, Missle shield, Magic shield, etc)prior to combat. Most of your spells (with the exception of hex, armormelt and fear) will have little effect on her. After you drop down out of the Bayjin shallows (to the area with the Umpani dogtags) surprise her so that you can throw up the highest level Soul, and Element shield you can muster before going into combat. As a general rule, 'ordinary' weapons will have little effect on her. Lightning bolts and Mystic arrows, and Medussa stones would be my first choice for ranged weapons. I would hope you also have Bloodlust, Fang, Zatachi Bo, Doom Staff, CoC and the like. Throw your canned (or summoned) elementals in front of you, but attempt to get to Nessie's flank. Have either scrolls, or a character that can throw 'heal all' ready. Also have someone who can throw 'purify air', since she will undoubtedly throw some sort of poison cloud at you. Rest All is also a must...your guys will be getting tired in this combat.
Good Luck......Halsey

I found the best way to deal with Nessie was to go in with shields on maximum and hack! I tried strictly range combat once, but it just doesn't do enough damage. Time is your enemy when dealing with Nessie, she has much more stamina than your characters and it gives her more chance to get lucky with a death cloud or earthquake that takes out half your characters in one shot. Generally, Keep It Short, Stupid--is the best way to deal with most high-level monsters.

They may keep her busy, while you get the rest of your defenses up.

My last Nessie fight was weird.

I tossed an elemental (Air) who almost defeated her single handedly. That sucker did so much damage to her that I only needed to fire off a couple of arrow shots to kill her.

Superman is a MUST spell. Cast it on your archers or other bow users and they do great damage.

Soul Shield and Element Shield are also a need-to-have combo.

I had something similar - I had 4 canned elementals down there - 2 water, 1 earth and 1 air. The air hit her for about 300hp, the others had nothing but 'no penetration'. Anyone want to suggest how you go about making sure you get air elementals rather than the other ones - walk in sideways perhaps?

Fight with nessie is easy when you send 5 or 6 elementals on her. I had 5 air elementals on level 9 and when she finished them she had only 100hp....then I casted elemental and soul shield on my party+superman on my warrior and killed her in two rounds.

i had a 4 peson party with 3 ppl who could summon elementals, the 4th being a f/n w/ CoC. I just summoned 3 elementals after surprizing her, buffed my party, cast super man on 2 elementals and party memebers when i could, and rez'd ppl if they died. All in all it was easy. I found that my lvl 15 supermaned f/n would hit once for 50-60 dam a round w/ CoC (no status effects) and the elementals would randomly decide to attack or not. I found it key to be next to my elementals, however, to heal them, buff them (superman on a 455 hp earth elemental had him doing 85 damage a hit to her : D) and before long she was dead. I was rather disappointed that it was just that easy. : \

Mostly I kill Nessie when my party is around level 20 - this makes it much much easier. I just do the usual buffs, engage combat manually behind the rock, select 'run' and go to her as close as possible. Then I just walk up, armormelt her (she mostly casts stone skin in the first round), summon some elementals, and kill her; at close range she tends to use her spells less often; her breath attack at that level doesn't do much damage anymore, plus the fact that you have a higher chance to paralyze her with your stun rods
