Blacklash (Guest) (13 posts) May-12-03, 03:43 AM (Pacific) "Prisoner's Chain and Vampire Bat Wing For Vampire Chain" Ok, I gave Ferro the heart of the scorceress, but I can't for the life of me find that stupid prisoner's chain. I know it's supposed to be somewhere in the rift, and it made sense that it was in the cell-block with the Rapax wimps screaming about the lava lord, begging me to kill them. Can anyone tell me exactly where in the rift it is? Also, I can't seem to get a Vampire Bat wing. I know you can find them in the Mt. Gigas caves, at least I used to, but now all I ever get is Contagion Bats. It's to the point where I'm going to start using X-ray to see where the mosters are, save before I go into battle, then hope there are Vampire Bats in the monster group. Then, after I kick their butts, if they don't drop a wing for me, I'm just going to reload the save and hope it generates a wing the next time I fight them. Or maybe there's somewhere else better to look for encounters with them??? Just like I had to camp constantly for about 45 min in the upper branches of Trynton until I finally got some Spider Silk. That was definitely worth it though. The Ivory Blade kicks major ass! My fighter has it and my gadgeteer took Fang from him. Now they both strike for over 100 hp on average, sometimes up to 150! I could beat the game right now without any problem whatsoever, but I still want to find all the items, so if you can help me with those two, I'd appreciate it. "RE: Prisoner's Chain and Vampire Bat Wing " The chain is in the one cell, locked with the combination .. the prisoner there (can't recall his name) wants you to retrieve teh staff of ash. The chain is behind him, once you open his cell you can go in and get it. This is near where you see the lava lord walk by. As for Vampire bat wings ... This goes along some of our conspiracy theories (when you are wanting one item, it will never be a random drop ). You are on the right track, but you can also try the road between Trynton and Arnika. You know, I've been in that cell where I let the guy go, and there's no chain there, at least not anymore. That was a long time ago when I did that. I accidentally took my party into Rapax Rift long before they were meant to be there. I had other areas to complete, but luckily for me, they were also more powerful than the average party at that point in the game, so they made it through, and then the areas that still needed to be cleared were absolute cake. I'm just wandering around now, with 3 portals set in various places. I saw all three endings, just wanna take care of this unfinished business before I quit. I know if I picked that chain up before, I didn't give it to anyone of the other merchants, or they would still have it and I could buy it back from them. I'll look again. So, the trick is to give all the merchants at least 1 of something good that you may want to pick up from them later on, like good arrows, crossbow bolts, renewal potions (my freakin' bishop needs to learn restoral still). That way, you don't have to go to just one merchant for everything good. Although, like I said, I have 3 characters who can cast the portal and return to portal spells (Vi Domina, my Lord and my Bishop), so with all the other portals around, you can place them well enough to be hardly two steps from anywhere you want to go. I'm going to search the cemetary area for that stupid Vampire Bat wing, and if I can actually get my hands on one, then I'll worry about the missing chain.
