"newbie at monastery - ??"

I am not far into the game, I have found the chest in the
greenish pool room. Some of my characters are at level 5.

a couple of Questions:
how many levels are there in monastery??? i am on Lvl-1 from beach crash.

near the start of the monastery Lvl-1 there is a room with
a glass window panel in it, how do I get to other side or do
I need to break it somehow???

also around this same general area is a gate door, like a jail
type door -- it says it is lock from other side.
how do i get to the other side ???

i found some stiks and a bomb, so i tried them out in a combat
and blew 3 of my people to hell.... OUCH....
what is the correct way I am supposed to use these???
I don't have a gadgeteer
---can I use these on the window or gate / jail type door??

where do i find from monastery the road to .... Arnika????

thanks

>how many levels are there in monastery??? i am on Lvl-1 from >beach crash.

you are in the Lower Monestary. there is an Upper Monestary later. there are about 2 distinct levels, or floors to the lower monestary. Burz is on the upper level.

>near the start of the monastery Lvl-1 there is a room with

take the long road around, and I do mean long
later you will find a pane of glass that can be broken, in the Upper Monestary, though i will say naught for the spoiler, and the fact I know little of it.

>also around this same general area is a gate door, like a jail

>how do i get to the other side ???
related to the above question. from the pane of glass in the library of sorts, head strait through the doorway, and go around the ramp that takes you outside. there is another hallway.
take it, and explore around. eventually you will complete the map, and get to the other side, and once you do, you have a shortcut.

>i found some stiks and a bomb, so i tried them out in a combat

Low Artifacts skill will do this. correct way to use them, is exactly as you have done. Use it in Combat
trouble is, figuring out which ones aren't going to kill you. eventually after a lot of practise, your character's skill (can be any race/class/sex) will improve, and at first, s/he won't bacfire as often, later, s/he will actually use it properly, casting the associated spell, without fizzling.

>I don't have a gadgeteer
that's OK, they are only useful for the Gadgets you find, like Duct Tape, or Searchlight, and the Omnigun, though it has a T-rex's Appetite for ammo.
Bard's have their Instriments, and are a good fighter.
Alchemists types can mix potions, creating a heavy heal out of Mod heal and Light heal.
anyone can use these Stix and Scrolls, only a good Artifacts skill is a blessing here, and the Bombs depend on Throwing skill, regardless of if they are equipped (odd yes)

>---can I use these on the window or gate / jail type door??
nope, use your rogue/bard/ninja and their Locks and Traps skill or Knock Knock spell
click on the door or chest.

>where do i find from monastery the road to .... Arnika????

you will find it later, after the upper monestary. Burz can give you directions.
You are only as brave as the challenges you take on

2. "Check the skill required"
Some bombs (look like stikcs of dynamite) and powders require the throwing or artifacts skill, for "successful use". really, the more skill your character has in the required skill for the item, the more likely your chances for success.

You can right click on an item to see its required skill, assuming it has been identified.

3. "RE: Check the skill required"
using an unidentified bomb, potion, or powder will have a vastly higher failure rate.

You might have the same problem I had with my first team. I looked at the map. I had gone everywhere and couldn't find my way out. The map is deceptive. It shows multiple layers of the monastery, even layers you haven't been to yet. It shows passages and rooms above you.

On the right side of the map display, there are two sets of arrows. The four-way arrows scroll the map left-right-up-down. The set of arrows ABOVE THAT adds and removes VERTICAL LAYERS of map. Click on the down arrow several time and watch the map peel away, and reveal a passage that you may not have explored. It ends in a double-door with a lock (not a single-door prisoner cell). Be sure to walk over every square inch of that room - there is a hidden crossbow.
