This has probably been mentioned before but I found it helpful so I'm repeating it. We all know that Vi will not enter Rapax Rift (and RSF-81 I think). If you enter Rapax rift through the T'rang teleporter in Lower Marten's Bluff, she has no choice but to stay with you. She will complain but at least she will be there to help fight. Another trick is if you want a joined NPC to enter an area they won't go willingly into(Like Vi into Bayjin), there is a way. You must have a ressurect scroll/spell/powder. Let them get killed in a battle before the entrance then enter the area with them still dead. Once in for a ways, resurrect them. They will then stay with you. That helps for fighting and giving them XP to have them level up alongside your party.

Alternately.....instead of killing them, you can just run them around(give 'em the silver nugget to weigh them down) till they're unconscious. Then they'll go.

I figure that's already mean enough.

*** WARNING *** There is a downside to doing this, ALL your player stats will drop 20 points while you are in the area.

3. "True but........."
It's better than not having them there at all. The other NPC's that "do" go to restricted areas were(....for me)always weaker than a gelded NPC that I had to force to go. Plus they continue to get experience in those areas, making them even stronger when they get out.

This was a weak spot in the game as far as I was concerned, if they didn't want you to use the NPC's they should probably should have made them go unconscious or something the whole time(or maybe flee after a set time)....and no getting experience.
