"Impossible fight in Trynton"
In Trynton, when I open the door to the "No Magic" building I get hit with one heck of a fight!! I have to fight 9 vile spiders, 2 willow elders and 1 oak elder!! I could beat the vile spiders easily, but the elders can wipe out 3-4 of my characters with one spell! If I go in the building so they can't use spells I still die because my characters get worn down and I can't heal them. (My characters are around 9th-10th level and have about 80 HP max.) Does everybody else get this same fight?? If so, how do you win? I hate to get stuck this early in the game. HELP!!! (Also, it doesn't seem to help by putting the difficulty level on Novice)

two posibilities:

1. go sleep some where for at least 8 hours.

2. if you stay ust outside the doorway you can use magic.
you need to have as many buff spell up BEFORE you open door.

I do rest for 8 hours before I open the door. As for spells, I cast Enchanted Blade and Armorplate. I am not even getting remotely close to winning this fight. The Oak Elder has about 350 HP and the Willow Elders have over 200 HP!!! Is this an area I should skip for now?

I also had trouble with this fight.

The only way I could win was to stop just as I got into their view. As they attack, back up, sometimes only one will follow you.

Defeat that one, save, and do it again.

It might take a few tries to get there.

The only critters I've run into that were in the main, central sanctuary area (Pagoda) were the sprites, spiders, wasps, and weeds, in separate batches, and those would follow you outside. The truly dangerous ones were in the armory, although Rapax Scouts aren't "easy" for the normal level party at Trynton (my characters were all about level 10).

I opened the front door and backed up a good distance; the sprites came at us and died from archery before reaching us. Nothing else appeared for awhile. We went almost back to the door and met two or three spiders. Backed up again and repeated the distance shooting. I can't recall if the next set of bugs appeared on their own or if we repeated the advance and retreat for the wasps. I'm pretty sure that all four sets of enemies remained in their own groups and formed distinctly separate small battles. I don't recall if we had to "entice" them outside each time, or if one or another of the subsequent groups started out the door on their own before the preceding batch were all dead.

If there were saplings in the main area, maybe it's another of the level-related situations like the kinds of critters on the road coming to Trynton (for which I followed some early advice and temporarily stopped levelling up at 8, I think, until we were inside of Trynton). Did you have even a single character way ahead of the others, like level 14? The monsters you face are keyed to your highest level character, not the average.

My party fought about four of the saplings (not Elders) in the doorway of the Armory, but one at a time, not all at once, and we were able to cast magic spells from where we were. I think we lost a couple of members of the team before that last one was over, and had to use resurrection powders on them.

My party is heavily magical, not melee, so we don't typically close in on powerful enemies until we've weakened them seriously with archery and sling stones, and all eight have some sort of ranged weaponry (Myles & Vi were with us).

IIRC, those elders( and more so saplings ) have low resistance to water spells. try using paralize on them. once they are immoblized, use fire spells( very low resistance ).

of course, if the fight can't be won, then do something else and come back after you get another level or two.

You mentioned only two of rge eight partybuff spells. in additionto the two youmentioned before battlw try casting Missle Shield and Magic Shield. These two spells reduce or eliminate damage from ranged and spell attacks/

If you stay (or back up) just outside the door leading to the
no-magic zone you can cast spells while the critters inside
cannot. What level are your characters?

I just finished this area for the third time. I don't remember
ever finding any elders. Of course I usually do this area
relatively early in the game after the monastery and Arnika.
This time I went to visit Mt Gigas and cleared the cemetery
before heading to Trynton. I did find five groups of wasps and
plants but that is all I can remember.

I noticed in the pagoda area there are four floating squares
filled with coals (it appears). If you click on them it says
a specific item is required. Anyone know what it is (if anything)?

Also, just outside is a giant bat hovering off the branches.
It is neutral and you can use it for target practice without
it retaliating. It seems to have little purpose. I thought
it might be bad juju if I picked it off and I could hardly
reach anything it left behind. Anyone have a clue?

... and lesser monsters as a buffer, is the easiest way to tackle this. If you can get some of the lesser critters in the doorway adn the wood guys behind them, toss spells at the wood guys first.

You may need to heal your front line folks while you whittle () away, but this tactic may help.

Fuzzface has the stuff you need to please the spirits and shut off the monster generator. Usually next to the Mystery Potions.
