I bought the hint book about a week ago. I bought it early only because I wanted to be sure I got a copy before they became no longer available. (As what happened with the Wiz7 clue book and I am sure glad I have one!)I have not looked at any of the walkthrough sections yet and don't plan to for a long time to come. I also try to avoid any posts on this board that deal with areas I have not been to yet or have not yet thoroughly explored.
I have, however, glanced over part of the book dealing with monsters and items. I must say, I was severely disappointed. I was really hoping for something more like the W7 clue book, which lists the whole monster roster in alphabetical order, giving you each specific monster and telling you their hp range, group # range, class, race, etc. etc. Instead all I got were generalities that tend to deal with the whole group of one "type" of monster i.e. slimes.
The items information is also very lacking. On some items they will list the ac, others, its magical effects (if any) and rarely both.
I must say I think the W7 clue book was far, far superior in giving out the information on the items and monsters in the game then the w8 clue book.
I can see there will be need for a W8 item viewer and hopefully someone will also produce a monster viewer for the same purposes.
Any other thoughts on the subject?
