"RE: Saxx and "bad" areas"
Hi there,

I'm considering playing a game with Sparkle and Saxx as my RPCs, but I've got questions about Saxx. I know I can force him into areas he won't go, but will I be able to use the better instruments if I've got some music items for him?

I guess the question is, if he's got 100 music skill, what will it be in the areas he doesn't like, and will I be able to add to that lower skill with music items, and what music items are available other than Puck's cap, which is 10 and the only one I've found so far.

Thanks!

I don't think that they fight (or anything else) worse in areas they don't want to be in. They just bitch all the time. I think thats the extent of it. They mouth off, but don't perform at a lower level because of it.
But it has been a while since I hired non essential NPCs so I may be completely wrong.

I'm not possitive but i think all stats drop by 20 in "bad areas", so that would put him at 80 music if he was maxed.

Due to the drop in stats (and relative level), so no, he will not be able to use the best instruments. It is basically like being hexed.

Don't know if anyone else noticed, but Saxx passes out a lot faster when he's somewhere he doesn't want to be.

At the Rift, his stamina drops dramatically in battle after using an instrument one time. The second time he passes out and stay out for like two or three more rounds.

If you can do it, though, I'd recommend dragging his cowardly butt around there. Great experience! He gained like three levels for me before I even got to the castle.

In my last game I dragged Madras through the whole game. On Ascension Peak he was only half as useful, because Jackhammer, WaterCannon and NegatAir(!) were out of the question. I'm currently playing through with Saxx, I'd assume it's the same, but he doesn't bitch about the Peak; as a matter of fact only he, Vi and RFS-81 are willing to enter the Peak.

The drop in stamina is quite logic: Stamina is controlled by Piety and Vitality. In unfriendly areas, both drop by 20 points; that's quite a lot...

Poor mardas keep messiin his britches and passing out when I ported him into the rift. his strength dropped to 20 and encumbered him so bad that walking dropped him flat on his face. Now Myles never liked going anywhere fun but i ported him into the lower castle to pick some pockets for me and suprizingly said " since im here i might as well take a look around ". He was on his best behavior till i got to the rift, seeing a route to escape he started whining till i eventully sent him on his way.
