"Trinnies and Umpani attacking"
Amazing how something early and screw things up a bit later in the game...

I accidntly shot some trinnies back in the tree and they all became hostile. Now later when I encounter sparkle at the Umpani camp he goes hostile and turns all the Umpani hostile also. This means I can't go into the recruiting building as that is where he is.

Question - how much hassle am I in for if the Umpani are hostile compared to going wayyy back and using an old game?

The T'rang are friendly and I've been working with them but I hear there is an alliance of some sort further on - I take it this isn't going to happen in my game due to the Umpani/Trinnie hostility?

(and an annoying one at that )

I did a similar thing, but not on accident. I was killing all the trynnie on sight and actually killed Sparkle in the Umpani compound. I was still able to align with the Umpani, but it was tricky.

Apparently, when I killed her, one sentry could see me ... so he would go hostile everytime he saw me. I just ran from combat (rather than take him out and complicate things) and was fine ... eventually he got over it.

No, no -- Balbrak is the one dating Sparkle.

At least he asked her for a date, according to what I mindread from one of the other Umpani. I can't recall if it was Kunar or the bartender, though.

I'll take your word about that, I have no desire to spread the Trinnies little legs and see for myself.

Problem with this scenario is that she is in the recruiting building and there are other Umpani around with her. I see now way to bump her off without the rest of them going ape. Will a Lava lamp lure them away in non-combat mode? If I can get the Umpani all out of my hair for a minute she'll be toast.

My impression is from reading through other posts is that hostile Umpani won't prevent me from finishing the game. I just will loose out on some plots and points and obviously won't be able to form any alliances.

To think my party was being nice and not killing endlessly unless attacked too. Ah well at least the hidious T'rang like my group (for now). I have their gizmo stolen from the Mook, guess I'll head for T'rang land and see what wonderful missions Z'ant has in store for me next!

I always heal/cure poison Trynnies when they get injured while helping me. Annoying and pushy but friendly in a hostile world.

Try this. Use A-ray on recruiting center. If sparkle is there go in engage in combat but do NOT fight Make sure you have missle shield up and constantly retreat Once you have gotten her out of the building and far enough away run away from her. Thus should
1. enable you assess sgt Balbrek without Sparkle close by.
2. keep your faction rating with the Umpani good as you did not kill a valued member of the IUF.
3. Once you join the IUF sparkle should cease to be a problem but if not repeat the process.

Not sure what A-ray is but in any case if sparkle gets so much as a glimpse of me she makes all the Umpani that are marching around go hostile also. I could technically run from all of them but I think I'd end up in a big clusterf**K outside with more and more Umpani joining in until I had to start killing.

In the compound there are several Umpani marching back and forth between the recruiting center and an area outside. Inside you have a couple more that march out and back in. Sparkle herself is in the left hand side or in the door (have not really watched where all she goes yet).

The only thing I can think of is to get her alone - I can see no other way to get the Umpani to stay friendly.

Is there a way to cool them off if they go hostile - run and don't kill them, etc?

To think that accidental stray arrow back at the zoo is causing me so much grief now!

If nothing else I'll just kill the ratty broad and all the Umpani and move along. The T'rang should be happy with me for that.

Actually, if you let them go into battle with you and then take them all out with spells like Asphixiation and Quicksand, it shouldn't affect your faction rating. Of course, you've got to have either the gadgets or be high enough to cast 7th level spells to do that, but it IS an option.

As none of the patrolling Umpani were either around or went hostile (don't recall with which scenario I was blessed). I guess you shoudl hide out near an edge of the roadhouse. Don't let her get to close, just close enough to see you and head towards you. Then continue to back off, lure her around a corner by herself, then WHACK!.

That is pretty much how I did it.

She can often be found in the bunkhouse alone, kill her before or after cleaning out all their lockers.

Is it me, or does Sparkle look a lot like Homer Simpson?
Oops, that's Mr. Sparkle.
