"Two software problems"
Has anyone else had these problems?

1) In Mt Gigas, I got too close to the blue stacked-ring things and I got stuck. I couldn't move away but I could turn around. When I clicked on load/save it ignored me so I couldn't even exit. Fortunately some bats showed up and the combat screen knocked me loose.

2) I dropped Vi from the party and later went to find her at HeLi's. She was there. When I moved my party between them I got the Blue Screen of Death. During the reboot, Scandisk finds bad stuff in the boot sector and fixes it.

I reloaded from my last save (5 minutes earlier) and tried again. No problem. I go upstairs then back down again, stand between them, Blue Screen of Death! No scandisk problems this time.

So does anyone else's computer have a heart attack when it sees Vi from behind ?

3) I dropped Sparkle in HeLi's upstairs room. I walk down the stairs, back up and she is gone! They can't get killed on the walk back, the game just "puts" them where we can re-find them.

4) Myles annoyed me when he wouldn't enter Marten's Bluff so I killed him. Vi hasn't complained. Will this cause problems with anyone else? Will Lorrac finally unthaw when she hears the news?

I had the same problem in Mt.Gigas! I eventually escaped by running.

Use tab key to load the map and then unload, sometimes it helps.

Don't tell me you are taking issue with the game mechanics Maybe if a cat walks across the keyboard, there would be different "testing" results

1) This happened to me, too. I solved it by running and changing directions constantly.

2) No bluescreens for me yet, but I had another glitch concerning Vi and the Umpani bard (his name escapes me at the moment). I wanted to dump both of them in HeLi's bar, but they would simply vanish. I went upstairs and outside and teleported back to Mt. Gigas, but no Vi or Umpani bard. I reloaded and the same happened, I restarted and the same happened. Then I went outside the bar and dumped them and I could see both of them standing before me.
Also, I dumped Myles in order to get Madras in Trynton, and since then he's hot air. He's not where I got rid of him and nowhere in Arnika. Not that I miss him that much anyway. The T'Rang Samurai has vanished, too. Now I stick to Vi and RFS-81 and won't let them go (even if Vi's constantly complaining because I dragged her to Rapax Rift ;) ).

On another note, Sgt Rubble has vanished without leaving a trace, too. I was assigned the underwater mission and the journal notes I should report back to him after "training" (putting the scuba gear on). I did the first time, but then I discovered none of the by then known recruits would want to come with me. I reloaded and forgot to get back to Rubble, and since then he's not to be seen in whole Mt. Gigas (yes, I wandered through the whole maze and camp again).

I'm playing with the latest patch (1.2.4).

The Umpani bard will return to the place where you first picked him up. Actually, most RPCs are like this, with the exception of Vi and RFS-81. Vi will return to He'Li's (instead of the crashed ship) and RFS-81 will stay excatly where you drop him. Myles will return to the Arnika entrance (where you first found him).

It's not a good idea to drag someone to a place where they don't want to go. They get some serious penalties on their stats.

6. "No risk"
My point was, in the case I've tested thoroughly, the Umpani bard did NOT return to the Mt Gigas bar, Vi did NOT return to HeLi's bar and Myles did NOT return to the city gates of Arnika, instead they simply vanished. Nowhere to be found. Period.

I know about the penalties, but since I plan to have Vi with me at the final confrontation(s), I want to give her her share of experience points. Every tenth round or so she even hits her target, so she's not completely useless. Besides, I don't want to start over because of the risk she might be vanishing, too.

Perhaps she shouldn't be using that vanishing cream at night!!

I never had that problem. They always return to where they're supposed to for me.

I guess you can drag Vi there with you, and let her soak up some of the damage. If she get's killed, so be it.

In my second game I dragged Myles through every game area, and I endured his whining and bitching and griping. Now we're on Ascension Peak and he's a whining, bitching, griping killing machine!

I did the same with Madras, however it's a bit different, since now he can't use all those nice Engineering 85 gadgets...

Just my 2¢.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-20-02 AT 04:20 PM (Pacific)

I have noticed that when i release myles after accepting the last quest he disappears. I left him where i found him at the gate to arnika, went to the umpani base, and when i returned to arnika he was nowhere to be found.

maybe when they have nothing left to contribute they disappear.

I also noticed that the last time I went to Arnika, Myles was nowhere to be seen. I've picked him up a couple of times since I initially recruited him and have even seen him at the entrance when I didn't want to pick him up -- this time, he just must've had the day off!
