After the Lizardman Fighters sterling performance in Game 1 (over 1200 kills- more than my Sumarai, Ninja an Valkyrie combined) I thought I would give him another run in game 2.

It was nearly always the Lizardman Fighter that got me out of trouble by landing two or three consecutive wacks of 100 plus damage. Even early on in the game he was only one who could basically kill anything. The Sumarai and Ninja were lucky to do 40 a hit at end game. Thats with the Sumarai equiped with the Murasama as well. My fighter could find a sword no batter than Fang. When equiped with a good shield by end game his AC was 30. In addition to iron skin at 80 and 300 hit points he was a tank.

As the fighter class is clearly a much superior class than previous versions of Wiz (where elite ruled) I have taken another fighter - A Dracon. At level 10 they have identical hit points (140 odd) both have power strike and iron skin. The Dracon has about 15% more kills. Haven't worked out why yet, might be as simple as a better weapon.

I am starting to think a three fighter party is the way to go. Include a Ranger and Ninja for ranged criticals plus a Bishop for mystical support. Recruit Vi Domina for some more healing power (plus her fighting prowess as well), RFS 81 for more fighting grunt and that would be a kick ass party. The Ranger and Ninja should learn heal wounds and stamina ASAP - leave it up to personal choice how far Alchemy is developed.

I think that will be my Ironman party.

Though whether it might be going first and getting the kill or coming in last and cleaning up for the kill would be something for analysis.

I second that... My lizardman fighter always came in after my samurai etc had bashed the bad guys around a bit, so the high killrate could be cause of that. Not that it in any way lessens the importance of a real bad ass tank fighter in any party, period. =)

Who cares who gets the kill. As long as they are dead, everyone shares in the EP equally.

4. "Well your fighter types should care"
What are they gonna write home about and tell for their tavern stories, if a priest in their party has more kills than they do

Now that I have maxed strength and vitality, I am plugging senses with 3 and speed/deterity 1/2 on alternates on level ups. Last game I ignored senses completely for just about all classes (not being a traditional stat I didn't really understand its importance).

I am hoping this will radically improve initiative so the Lizardman and Dracon tanks will come in earlier.
