It seems a new Bard's Tale IV is slated for release soon (I think I read October). The RPGs are just starting to rain down on us

And as always -- after the first glut of rpgs that "had to prove themselves" we'll start getting more and more rpgs in the works, and the more rpgs that are released, the more of them will be bad, and the more of them that are bad, the less people will get excited about every rpg announcement, and once again there will be articles about the death of rpgs...

The cycles of capitalism... its truly a joy to watch... but for now lets just enjoy the next year or so that seems like it may hold some good offerings.

Well, here's the good news -- if you start working on your "why did rpgs die -- again?" article right now, you'll be able to have it published in a year or so...

Fans have been pushing for a BT4 for some time - even at the petition level. There actually was a BT4 project in the works some years ago but it was scrapped, and somewhat salvaged by Dragon Wars, or so I hear.

(ADDED)

Upon further inspection, it officially really *isn't* BT4 - it is a fan tribute game which they're calling "Bard's Legacy ~ Dark Resurrection", so it looks kinda like self-publishing efforts such as Demise and Grimoire, as opposed to the full-fledged powerhouse sequels to great RPGs, such as Pool of Radiance 2.
