"Ok.. my admission..."
I love turn based crpg's because it gives me time to think about my actions - after all my character I created is the one with the incredible speed & dexterity.. not me. So I never play games like Quake or Doom - I get no enjoyment out of the what I call "trigger happy" games. I don't have the coordination or reflexes for it.. besides.. I like creative imaginative worlds.

I'm also someone who has comes from old school MORPG's (text-based MUD's). One reason I could play these was for 2 reasons.. 1. all the commands are typed.. ie you use the keyboard.. not a console controller with 10 buttons all over the place and I'm a pretty damn good typist!
2. Most to all of them allowed the aliasing of commands and even if they didn't you could get a program that allows you to do that with any MUD. (I used the linux based tintin for that for a long time).

However, having been an old school MUDder and knowing that the life of them are getting smaller and smaller (you can see this by the fact that most new MUD's don't last more than a few months and the well-established ones have a slowly shrinking playerbase). I decided against all better judgement to try out some of the MMORPG's out there - the ones you pay a monthly fee for.

I said all this to let you know where I'm coming from (even if it is a bit long winded) because I think most of the long timers on this board feel the same way. On to the confession...

To my surprise, I actually found one I liked and I have been hooked for several months. I have been playing "Asheron's Call" run my MS & Turbine. The game is heavily dependent on magic, but you can survive as various "melee" or "fighter" types depending on how you do it. The interface is actually pretty streamlined and easy to use and there is an overarching storyline going on behind the scenes that advances with new updates and added content each month.

If any of you decide to give it a try or are already playing let me know.. I play on the Leafcull server (there are 9 of them) as a few different characters (you can create 5 per server w/ your account) which are: Fidelys, Caledvwlch, Kyudo Khan, Odo al-Bayeux, and Myrdo. Mostly I'm on as Fidelys.

Perhaps I'll see some of you there..
