"New player to wiz8, questions on first game"
Hello, i'm new to wiz8 (got it yesterday, but no time to play) and i have some questions for beginning.
(i've readed through some forums allready, but hope to find here an answere without searching for hours)

First:
In manual i read about that piety determines how much spellpoints a caster get's for each type of magic.
Is this real for all spellcasters or only for priests?

Second:
I thought long about a party, here a overview what i have planned.

1. a bard, not sure about race right now
Want him as group leader, because of the communication skill
an bonus. If i don't put him at first, i think i would
allways talk with my dumb dracon fighter.
2. a dracon fighter. some suggest a lizardman fighter, but the dracon has lower mental and divine malus, so i tend to use the dracon.
3. a hobbit rogue. Some they that a rogue isn't needet, but in most games a hobbit rogue named Frode is necessary to my partys. Sure and i want to lockpick and disarm without an RPC in group.
Perhaps i turn him to a fighter when his skills are high enough.
4. a dwarfen priest: just to have a healer with some fighting ability
5. a gnome alchemist: Alchemist (or gadgeteers) have to be gnomes in my role-playing games. I can't think about an elf mixing potions and smoke out there whole forest.
6. First i thought i would make an elven mage. But then i looked through the manual for the spells.
I want to have x-ray, because it is recommend on the forum, but i want also mind-read, just for fun.
So i thought about making an elven bishop specialised in psionic and wizardry.

So some questions about the party:
Would this be a difficult party to play? (if so: what would be the core problems)
If i change my rogue to a fighter later on, do i have to think about something special (examples: no stealth bonus with heavy armour or problems with lockpicking & disarming)?

Are the bard/rogue/priest characters useful in fighting when necassary. Whom of them should stand back (the priest for healing for example, or doesn't it matter)?

thank for answers in foreward.

I can't wait until afternoon to first play this game. If it doesn't work on my pc i think i would turn crazy and start real-life roleplaying the dracon fighter and slay down my way to the distributor (just a joke)

You can win the game with any party, so don't stress too much about it.

The rogue in Wiz8 is an excellent melee fighter, so having one is always a good idea. I would avoid a Bishop in the first ever party, because to get them as effective as your other spell-casters takes training. Go with the mage.

Looks like a good mix. After you have run through the game one or twice, you should try lords, samurais, ninjas and monks. You will need a team with a gadgeteer to try out all the neat stuff you can build with pipes and fans.

If the bard is female, she can wear a special necklace. Doesn't help much in battle but it helps her after the battle. Sometimes battles happen REAL close together.

The spellcasters should go in the back, with quarterstaffs and slings. Or mace/flails if you have no one standing on the sides.

Parties are not difficult to play. Mistakes made by you while playing the team, make the game difficult to play. Don't go charging around corners at full speed. Approach, look, creep up, look HIT BACKARROW TURN LEFT STILL PRESSING BACKARROW and stop in the doorway, click a character and do an ammo check on everyone. Click back to the main screen and TURN OFF SEARCH (just because YOU saw 12 seekers around the corner doesn't mean THEY saw 12 seekers around the corner).
