"wiz 8 reinstall"
Hello:
I had problems which lead to a reinstall of wiz8. I installed 2 years ago and never touched disks 1 or 2 again till now.
It wouldn't install, disk 1 changed along, then disk 2, and something just wasn't going right. I thought kiss this game goodbye.
I then thought maybe just bad cd, burn disks to a good cd; that didn't work.
I then tried a cd repair program, in case files bad whatever. that was a waste of time.
Then I transferred files from each disk to a file on my desktop. then burned to a cd; that didn't work - cd chug along like the original wiz disks.
Finally, I just installed from transferred files on my desktop, and it worked!!!!
Does anyone know why these transferred files didn't worked when burned to my new cd, yet worked when installed from desktop copied file from original cd?
I would like to know, plus this is my back-up cds for game which won't install from cd. P.S. There isn't anything wrong with my cd rom player/burner, believe me its' fine.

1. "Copy Protected"
Wiz 8 is copy protected to prevent pirating. Ordinary CD burn ptograms do not pick up certain hidden files that are needed to run the progra,.

2. "RE: Copy Protected"
yeah, but copy protection doesn't explain why the original disks were froggy.
when i run into that situation, i always use a cd cleaner on my cd-rom drive (the kind you just insert into the drive) and i also carefully wash my game cds, using warm water, a lil liquid soap and my fingers, letting 'em dry afterwards. always works for me, even on disks that have radial cracks.

anyway, if cleaning doesn't work, then manually transferring all the files onto your drive and then installing from there is the answer to that kind of install problem. esp for older disks.

good luck and enjoy your playthru!
