"Early kill - Don Barlone"
I just killed Don Barlone the earliest ever in a game I have played.
With ranged fighting, my Ranger using the Demonsting Bow, landed every arrow that he shot at the Don.
Since I wasn't using close combat it took a few more rounds then normal.
But, with missile shield he rarely hit my team with his Bite Daggers.

Just a first for me that I thought I would share!
Take care,
HBK21SFP

1. "not just the Don"
there are a few fights that are "known" to be easier using ranged attacks. The Don because he's a lot easier to hit from afar. Another notable one is Nessie, who can't attack you at all if you stay up in the mouth of the tunnel from Bayjin.

Last night I killed three Armegazers with arrows, crossbow bolts, and the Cobaltine power glove. Had previously been masssacred by a different set of them at close range, even with four major KA fighters.

Yeah your right. (A week ago) I ended up stepping back and throwing a zillion poison darts at him to knock him off. (auto penetrate and 100% poison is a good thing!) It took three "kills" for him to finally drop the CoC my single FN has been waiting for. Each of those battles Barlone was considered an "even match" for my single PC party and I had to run, hide and heal then re-find him and resume the battle. Long and drawn out, it was worth the battles.

CoC, Yippie!!!!! It's mine! First time I've had it in W8.

Nessie, on the other hand, has been different in that I have always had the best result running up on her/it point blank and hacking away.

I've never tried beat the don with range, but that does sound like a solid plan. Whenever I need to do a rush kill on the Don, I take the easy road, which is getting a canned elemental and a bishop that can cast superman. On a difficulty of novice and with a few reloads, a superman elemental + a level 9 or so myles with bloodlust or a thieves dagger can do the trick.
