"Thief not stabbing!"
My thief is equipped with Light sword and thieves' dagger,he hits well enough with sword but never seems to use dagger.
Relevant stats are:-
level 26
strength 100
speed 89
senses 100
close combat 78
dual weapons 81
sword 81
dagger 54.
Carrying capacity on white.
I expect low dagger stat is because he is not using it despite it being equipped.
Anyone know why please?

You did not list Dexterity ... that (IIRC) also controls how many secondary attacks you will get (mainly along with speed). Dual weapons (and the individual weapons skills, i.e. sword, dagger, etc.) control how effective the attack is.

Thanks. Yes I missed that but I don't think it's the problem as dexterity is also 100 as befits a rogue.

3. "Close enough?"
Are you close enough to use the dagger?

Autoswap Lock?

Does it matter which slot the dagger is equiped?

Just a couple of thoughts.

Which slot do you have the dagger in? That is key. Have Sword as primary, with dagger in slot to right. Also, if you can afford it/if they are available-I love to give Myles Bloodlust(primary) and then three Theives Daggers. As every item is cursed he "loves" them all. Or just go with all Thieves Daggers-he has truly sliced and diced his way through a whole pile of nasty Rapax with multiple attacks/swings, with the awesome daggers.

You can't swap cursed weapons (without uncursing after every swap) so you'd only need 1 or 2 daggers.

Being in front does not guarantee that you will be close enough. Some monsters shortest fighting range is extended and you will have to scoot up to hit them.

Also, equip your PC only with the dagger and see how s/he does.

Is he killing everything so fast with *light* that there's nobody left to stab?

Further experimentation.Otter may have a good point above.
However samurai with M. blade and sai when kills a monster with blade, stabs another with sai.
Thief ,on other hand kills with L. sword but does not stab with dagger even when other monsters still within reach.
Reluctant to equip a lesser sword having gone to much trouble to get LS!

12. "I'm Stumped"
I've had plenty Rogues successfully dual-wield all combonations of swords and daggers, and the only thing i have left to think is your game's broken somehow.
