"Flame Final Mod version 1 now available"
Don't let the word final fool you. This mod can and will be improved upon once certain features of the editor become available.

Please be sure to read the text file included in the mod. It contains the instructions on installing and explains why you cannot just install it over the beta version.

Mainly all the NEW items are completely new. They are not replacing any of the old items from Wiz7 like in the beta. Thwarted the importers!

A new game should be started with the mod installed to gain all the benefits of the mod. If you decide to uninstall this mod, you will need to delete or retire all save games that were created while using the mod. Your game will crash if you attempt to load those saves without the mod installed.

This mod contains an extra folder. There are several new graphics for the game contained in that ITEMS folder. You will need this folder installed in order to play the mod.

The text file contains non-spoiler information for many things. A spoiler will not be published at this time. The beta items are still here and more new items, alchemy recipes, and gadgets have been introduced.

Please post any comments, critisms, or suggestions in this thread.

I tried to act on as many suggestions as possible but a few probably slipped my mind, so please feel free to reiterate them here.

Available on the mod news page, (link in the main menu):

http://www.flamestryke.com/wizardry8/flamestrykes_w8.html

Enjoy, Merry Christmas!

PS: Ask for hints here, if you want total spoilers please email me.

Oh and Llevram, you may want to try this out, you have a vested interest in it whether you know it or not.

Downloaded mod and read "readme" but not applied to game yet.
Does mod mean my party imported from Wizgold will not have their best stuff on import eg elven bow?

Well, since you didn't apply it yet then delete it and download the newest version with all updates, FlameFinalMod-version2.

It should not effect any items imported since all new items introduced in the mod are genuinely new and they do not overwrite any existing items from either Wiz7 or Wiz8.

There is a small update at the site to correct a couple thigns that were not quite right on a couple items. The Psionics Sister staff weapon was coded for a Bishop & Alchemist. The update sets it to the proper professions of Bishop & Psionic.

The Deflier was coded with the requirements of Dex 60, Dex 60 when it should have been Dex 60, Speed 60. That is also corrected in the FFMv2-Items.zip.

The only file in the zip is the items.dbs file and it should be copied to the databases folder overwriting the previous file.

5. "Other Repairs"
Heh, i fixed those myself, and i also had to fix:
Anselm Drop (he was dropping an Arnika list)
Throwing Hammer was still not returning.
Could this be a result of my game's being patched only to 001b? (i did remove the old database and flush my trashcan...)

I did get the nice Foamies, that's a cute present, thanks.

Speaking of Foamies, guess what, another update makes them as I intended them to be, actually usable. Also some other minor corrections. Two files this time. Items.dbs and Itemtables.dbs. Just copy them over the previous files in the Databases folder.

Otter,

Not sure why it isn't returning yet. Try the two new files and see if that helps.

A new update was posted today adding some new items. Mainly ammo designs from folks playing the mod. The ammo is in Vendor inventory and can show up as early as the next restock.

If you are having any problems with the mod download the full version2 again and install it. There have been a few updates missed by some folks and this file is always kept up to date as any changes occur.

When I see it my eyes are happy.

One thing, though, I do not like much: (this is 'me-only' opinion) far too many powerful items that probably will unbalance a game. But that is the problem of most games mods ever made, I believe.

Apart from that it is very good work. If I ever decide to play W8 again I'll use it (or another flame's mod).

IF ???

You aren't running the game now ???

We all assumed you were still working on stuff and improving the editor, possibly including research into terrain and stuff ...

No, I'm not.

Edit: (slightly offtopic)
I currently play W7 using save file viewer to monitor activity, with generated superparty, without class changing, using editor to raise the probability of certain monsters appearing (when battling, to get more XP) thus reducing reloading time. But other things I leave intact (I still got to complete quest for Barlone prior to getting Dragon Map, I still got to 'catch' Ratsputin (though it was easier using my viewer ) and pay 20% of my gold, then return to Barlone to get 'treasures', I still need to know special word for Father Rulae from Xen Xheng prior to using it and so on).

Also I'm trying to live normal life.
So I have time only for bug fixing.

"I currently play W7 using save file viewer to monitor activity, ... I still got to 'catch' Ratsputin (though it was easier using my viewer)..."

So this viewer runs while the game is playing and tracks NPC's, so you can find them ? Or avoid them when there are 4 traveling together and they try to trade with you every step you take ? Extremely useful !

I miss travelling NPC's in Wiz 8.

"Also I'm trying to live normal life."

Well ... for a while I guess we can allow that. But just for a while.

Not exactly. I just switch to viewer (it's Windows after all), load up just-saved-file and click the World.., button. There I can see where wandering NPCs are. This is approximate information - it tells only a map + "quadrant". If you want to 'see' NPC you must loiter in that quadrant, if you want to avoid NPC you must run off that quadrant asap. That's it. I didn't understood all that data completely and sometimes it shows quadrant >=16 (it is impossible, each map has 16 quadrants, from 0 to 15), must often it works fine.

But there are not many bosses around (they are bosses after all), what about little helpless monsters?

So, mad god;
How can we bribe you to drop everything and immediately resume work on the editor, not quitting until new levels are added? Huh? Huh?
Anyway, excellent editor! It's easy to use. Hopefully the new areas capability is on its way?

Nah, please don't push Mad God. Of course it would be nice, if we'd be able to iron out all the little flaws in Wiz8, or even create a whole new game (Wiz8.5), but what Mad God has done so far is far more than we could've expected. The editor works fine so far and is quite powerful. The mods that Flamestryke created using this tool change the gameplay quite a bit, so that even veterans should have enough to play for a while!

Just my 2 cents.
