"How Do I Save/Load Using DosBox?"
Hey, I'm playing Bane for the first time on an XP machine running DosBox, and I'm having some problems.

I can deal with the lack of sound, but I'm unable to save or load any games. Trying to do so crashes it.

When I try and save or load, it says "please insert disk into drive c and press enter". Obviously, there is no disk, and I'm just saving to the harddrive. Pressing Enter doesn't do anything at all, and I'm stuck there.

Same problem when I load.

How do I get around this? Thanks.

I bet in your Bane-Options, your savegame settings are standard. So it will try to save your games on C:\Bane\
Though, you probably mounted C:\Bane\ as a simple C:\ in DosBox.

Just set the option for where to save your games to: C:\

If it doesn't work, experiment a bit with mounting and saving options, worked for me.

Have Fun

Fairgame, I've run into the exaxt same problem. I've been trying to install wiz 1-6 from the Ultimate Wizardry Archives disk. Tells me to insert a disk into drive c. My harddrive is drive h. It won't allow me to designate a drive to install onto. If you find anything out please post. The uwa disk does install wiz 7/wizgold. I assume this has something to do with the earlier games being in dos-mode and wizgold created for windows.

The Dragon is correct.

First of all, keep Bane in the C:\Bane directory.

When Dosbox starts up (this is assuming you're using the default options), you should type:

mount c c:\
c:
cd bane
wroot

Under the Game Configuration, make sure the sound is set to "Full/Full."

You can put the mount options under the "autoexec" section at the bottom of the dosbox.conf file later, so it automatically does it every time you start Dosbox, too.

Chris

solved - I just put "savegame" instead of "C:" or "C:\bane" where it asks you what directory to save in and it's working.

THanks!

I have found that you can put whatever you want the name of the file to be. So you can have different saves. As mentioned above, the directory entry only confuses the game. To load your different saves just enter the name of the file in the "savegame drive" slot and select load game from the main menu after.
