"Wizardry Disk Browser"
First of all, it's great to see that Wizardry is still so popular.

For those that may be interested, I have a couple of java utilities available at www.bytezone.com/apple. One is a dedicated Wizardry utility which reads scenario disks and displays the contents - maps, characters, monsters etc. This hasn't been updated for several years, but handles scenarios 1 & 2, and most of 3.

The second is a general purpose apple disk browser, which also handles wizardry disks. I am currently incorporating the wizardry utility into this program, and it is a little better with scenario 3.

To use these programs you may need to install a java runtime (details on the web page).

Enjoy.

Hi dmolony,

I've downloaded the software, I've got Java... but could not figure out how to get the program started, can you give us a hint or two on how to do that.

Thank,

Snafaru

If you have the java runtime installed correctly, you just double-click on the jar file.

Which program are you trying to run? On which platform?

Hi Denis,

Downloaded it again, now it works... strangely the first time I downloaded it downloaded as .zip files instead of .jar files.

Soooo... I fired it up and oh my!!! What can I say, this is excellent work, well above and beyond expectations. Now I'll be able to post much better maps of the custom Wizardry scenarios other fans and I did!

I wish I had known about your work before now, but better now than never.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Snafaru

P.S. My web site is at http://www.zimlab.com/wizardry/ if you ever get the hitch of playing Wizardry I again but with a different maze, monsters, items, races, classes, etc. There's also Oubliette that you can play which is one of Wizardry's ancestors and inspiration.

Glad you like it.

I've just dug out the code for the Wizardry Browser and updated it for scenario 3. Once I've sorted out a few other things, I'll put it up on the web site.
