"Gaining Levels"
Sorry to post so many times in a row. Anyway, I was wondering is it best to try and grind a bunch of levels before really taking on the game or is Orkogre casle simple enough that my level 5 and 6 characters can take it on?
Secondly how does everyone deal with the low amount of spell points and spell points regeneration? Every battle I am usually using spells to take down the enemy and quickly find I run low on spell points after a few battles. I watched some youtube videos of I guy who went through the whole game and on every video he seems to be at full health, full spell points, and full stamina. How is he doing that? Sorry for the long post and dumb questions, but this game is kinda frustrating as I have attempted to complete it many times without succeeding. Thanks.

I search the forests for encounters and am at level 7 or 8 as I enter Orkogre. That seems to be enough, usually. Of course by that time I have started the profession changing.

Resting used to be a problem. If I slept as long that was really needed, I found the map chests empty (and perhaps NPC:s dead and gone, too). But why not, there is actually only one map you need. The most ridiculous thing was that I could walk from the other end of the world to a fountain and back in much less time it took to rest. I have done that, too. Perhaps you should let Mad God's editor fix the resting algorithm. After that the game becomes a joy to play (err... it was one of my absolute favourites).

I never found regeneration to be a problem.

- Regeneration depends on your starting class i believe. Start as a fighter and you'll never be happy. In bane you didn't regenerate at all if you started as a non-spellcaster. Start as a priest or a mage with the stats for a bishop and you're on a good way.
- Make every character a spellcaster.
- Get some health-regenerating items (Munkharama - 2x Divine Gown for example) to save spell points.
- Cast spells from different elements. No good using up all fire points - cast water, earth, etc. They all regenerate simultaneoulsy, so when you're at maximum, you're wasting regeneration.
- No reason for the heavy artillery, when Silence or Blinding Flash and a good old sword can do the job. Learn their weaknesses.

Orkogre Castle: Try it. If it's too hard, outside in the forest are many encounters to level up.

5th and 6th level can be fine. When I hit Orkogre castle, I'm usually 6th level with a Nuclear Blast or 2, a few Words of Death, Asphyxiation, and all the other maxxed spells. So, at an advantage....

IF however, you wait til you're 8th level, watch how easy it suddenly becomes to not be affected by the spell effects. Advantages to a higher level are nice, but problematic in that you lose a chance to get the maps, you have to fight "other" things that, at lower levels, are harder to bear, etc.

Personally, I do Old City before I leave New City. Old City is too easy to do when you get the Rat info anyhows, so doing it early makes it a bit more challenging, and gets those levels you need by OrkOgre time. Especially if you're mutli-classing a lot.

Another option to build up your party is the Forbidden Area in the New City as there's the possibility to "produce a fight" everytime you want. Where you have to use the special access card just use the "black card" (which has the code for the prison), it will cause an alert...be prepared to face several Savant guards and some Savant Order, too. In case you already know the secret keyword for Father Rulae you can restore health from time to time in between.

Personally i don't recommend the forest around the Orkogre, because simply it's explored too fast when having any mega-blast spell. With a weak party i remember to have tried it for hours, being left to cope only with the spear-men, running away from anything that could cast annoying spells.
But with these "extinction"-spells it makes sense, i never had them in this early stage of the game.

Best way to build levels is to play on Expert.

Of course, you have to be able to deal with the hordes somehow. I did it with Poet's Lute, Blinding Flash and other crowd control type spells in the beginning.
