"Diplomacy skill dilemn"
Hello there,

I've just reinstalled WizGold on my computer ... to finally achieve a very, very long quest started 10 years ago (that never brung me farest than New City, due to a cruel lack of time for gaming!).
A couple of weeks later (I'm currently gone back to New City and raised my party to level 5-6), I searched some posts on this forum to make the game run better ... and suddenly read a post about the 2 versions (CoDS and WizGold), that I both own.
I noticed there that WizGold "killed" the Diplomacy skill, and started wondering if it's really possible to end this famous game with such a version without having a right and deep knowledge of the whole plot (wich is my case)?

Do I have to uninstall WizGold and restart with DosBox/CoDS to get a chance to understand the story (text speed), manage to talk with NPCs (problem with Dilpomacy skill) and avoid bugs (levels 100)? Or should I go forward with WizGold (hoping not to have to only follow walkthroughs all the time) ?

Many thanks for your replies and advices !!!

1. "No problem"
The only difference that this (diplomacy) really makes is that you can't coax characters into doing things, you have to wate until they are ready to deal with you. This ususally comes after a key encounter.

Many thanks for thy answer, Llevram !

With this forum and the great Wizardry fan community working on it, I also managed to start playing the old CoDS version with DosBox (despite the "bunch" of challenges encoutered to make it run on a recent computer (blank screen on start, saving games and sounds issues)), so all af my problems are actually solved.

... Keep the good job !

I'm also firing up Wiz Gold after a lengthy absence (though not nearly so bad as yours). From what I've found, text speed can be slowed down in the settings, I've set mine to maximum and found it acceptible. Yeah, dippy's busted, but no probs so far. The skills at 100 problem is fixed with a downloadable patch located elsewhere on this site.
