"Armor Class +88"

OK, I am not sure what I did, but at some point when I visited Rattkin Ruins my ninja's armor class points jumped from an average of -2 to +88. I did not catch it immediately, I actually visited other cities, etc. But a few days ago I noticed the +88.
Where did I go wrong? And what can be done to get back to a comfy -2, or so?

Doesn't happen often ... you might try equipping and unequipping a shield or other armor .. I recall poking around in the files after I wrote my editor and figuring out that was where the bug was (seemed like shield rating was way out of range).

Thanks. I wasn't aware that a ninja could use a shield. Or other armor, other than ninja garb. Whenever I visit Paluke's everything appears "unusable". I guess I am still below novice with this game.

You're right, there is only the Ninja Garb for Ninjas, unless you switch to a fighting class to put on the Divinemail and then switch back to Ninja. (Cursed items survive class changes!)
But, you can still try the suggestion; take off the Ninja suit and see what happens.

Thanks Otter, I did try that. I guess I should have mentioned it, sorry. Your suggestion to change profession and then back may be my only option. However, I did changed profession (after doing a SAVE) thinking it might do the trick and - - nothing. So I reloaded. The +88 AC just carried over to the new profession. However while in that profession I did not try the equip/unequip shield as Llevram suggested. I guess that is my next attempt unless someone else has a better idea. I would really prefer to keep the ninja for now. If I change profession everything goes to beginner rank. I guess it could be worse.

Just pick something that has similar requirements as possible for your race not to lose much. Like Lord or Sam.

OK. However, I have not been able to get a samuari to equip a shield. So far I have not found a shield that can be equipped at least. Maybe there will be a special "samuari shield" further down the line. Lord would be good, but my ninja does not qualify for that profession yet, not does he qualify for Valkyrie or I would go that route. The only exotic professions that he qualifies for now are bishop, samuari and monk. None of those carry a shield. I'll fiddle with it and see if just equipping different body armor will help. Thanks for your help and suggestions.

I sent the file as an attachment to an email that I initiated using this forum's email system. Not being sure you got it, let me just say that if you have, or do, receive it then don't worry about making the mod. I have moved on. I pretty much just took my ninja, changed his profession to a mage and tossed him into the back row where he does not take many hits. When he again reaches a level where he can change to a more useful profession, I will try the "shield thing". But, in the mean time, I have him as a mage and back up to level 13 and he is doing fine there. At least he hasn't been killed yet.

Nope, he is -88 naked and without anything in his bag, fully rested and after a meal. I understand that it is a known bug. I managed to correct the problem with help from people on this forum. You know who you are, thanks.
