"What does your party consist of?"

Are Alchemists worth having? What about Psionics? I thought the ranger sucked in the demo, but I like Ninjas anyway so they will have to do for tanks, though I dislike using anything for a meat shield.. What about Monks? Do they get any better after Lvl 10?

I am awaiting the full version today.

1. "Psionics & Alchemists"
Nothing wrong with either of these. Both are able to hold their own, given what you may want to use them for. Why not have an Alchemist in lieu of a Priest? You've got a healer that creates his own potions and has cloud spells for damage (and more damage spells early on)

Or a Psionic for a Mage? Depending on how you develop them either can be equally powerful (and the Psionic gets Identify and Heal). Psionics also have high mental skills and can almost fill the spot of a scout.

Thanks for the reply Llevram.

After I posted this, I finally got the game. And as I was playing I realized it is better to find things out for yourself. At this point, my computer runs Wizardry 8 as slow as nails under Dx7, but what an experience!

I am going to run several parties like I am sure you did in beta.

4. "Yes, it was like that"
I did one party fresh, then and imported one, than another new start.

The last was my favorite, I think because I new the "ins and outs" a bit, and was playing a path I discovered I had missed in the previous game.

It tookk some fun out of it, not being able to share (and commiserate about not knowing the answers), but was a treat ... reminiscent of Wiz 7 days, when there was no board

Incedentally, that last party had no psionic or alchemist, but 3 fighter, samurai, gadgeteer and a valkyrie.
