"Monster problem @ Ascension Peak"
My party is on the way to use the Chaos Moliri. The party ran into a Souleater, Djinn of Clouds, and 4 Imps of Chaoes. Help! What can be done to beat this nasty group? No spells seem to work on them, and they use eye for eye, which will take a toll on you party in a hurry. My protection is magic screen, element, and soul. Silence won't work on them. Can't stop their spells of fire or quicksand or death. My Bishop calls for an elemental, and my monk casts eye for eye - and keep my fingers crossed that the elemental and my party will outlast these monsters. Any advice for this group is appreciated. Thanks.

If you hide out or wait before you get to that area, all except the soul eater will move on (either towards you or in a different direction). Then you can fight the soul eater by itself (as I did). Basically, just try to get these groups separated somehow (run if you have to). The soul eater is always in the same location but those others move around.

2. "No problem ... run"
I rarely am able to stand toe-to-toe (or tentacle) with the soul eater. I have been able to use "hit and run" tactics ... go into battle, hit him (or her, it, whatever) for a hundred or so damage, then run. I usually do a lot of running anyway, since my party is always turned against itself, and by running far enough, they won't act.

Then, when the souleater breaks off chasing you, heal fast (don't rest, cause it heals while you do), and run back in for more.

The next group (greater demon and djiin of clouds) I don't think I have ever beat ... their death cloud is usually to much. Funny, it was probably on my 4th or 5th time through the game before I got the implied meaning of their name

I can usually take out the demon, w/o too much trouble. I always sneek as far as I can (on the right hand side) and make my way (either with or sometimes w/o engaging in combat), into the temple. Then, I will peek out the door and fire off any cloud spells I can and/or area effect spells. This will usually engage the demon and sometimes one or more of the Djiin.

The Demon will usually travel more and come right up to the doorway, where you have an advantage. As you continue to fight him, and the Djiins can't see you, they usually bow out of combat. If you could get them to attack individually, you could use this tactic to pick them off too, but I have yet to have that happen ... once one of them can see you, they all target you with clouds.

Or, you could just run

Spells that work against the Djinn and Souleater are Holy Water and Banish. Element Shield and Magic Sdreen at max to help protect and Haste superman and eye 4 eye bouufs your party. Run up and pound the pee out of them. Works for me at any rate.

I didn't have too much of a problem with them. With the soulstealer I managed to knock him unconcious with my fighter or with impaling stones or something, and that took him out fast. As far as the others are concerned, I would suggest just get up close to them as fast as you can, and start pummeling them with physical attacks, as they don't have any real good defence against physical. Armormelt at a high level should work, effectively nullifying armorplate if they cast that, or simply making them easier to hit if they don't. Equipping a few scrolls of heal all and scrolls of rest all is also a good idea (saving spell points to cast other spells if you need them).

I can't say often enough how much this game is weighted in favor of certain classes, such as the Bard. If you can pickpocket the Soul Sax from Sax in the Umpani compound, you can use that and the bagpipes that cause Pandimonium to maximum effect. Cast an elemental as a distraction and then rush in pound the crap out of them. A bard with the Heal All pipes, the Drums of Haste, and if a import party they should have the Horn of Cornu (Banishment at level 4 or 5). Bards will save your bacon. Even though they're from a different series, I've liked the idea of bards since the first days of The Bard's Tale (now this is a game that should come back). Good luck.

Move toward it along the left wall. When combat starts, summon two or more elementals to your right and drop back a few steps (not too much or you lose the elementals). If you haven't been tentacle-whipped by then, you should be safe. Use Mystic Arrows and Medusa Stones and Gold Nuggets.

Soul eater - I did need to reload, but with characters at level 20 he wasn't too bad. Casting soul shield and using the invigorator belt on my tanks (fighter, RFS81, faerie ninja)dropped him in 2 rounds.

Djinn - after a fortunate first round (death cloud only got Vi who "cheated death") my bishop cast purify air every round. Since I make the usually make the monsters attack first by choosing the 'move' option, the purify air spell usually came last of all. In fact some rounds I didn't move even though I had the chance just to be sure my bishop cast that spell. With crossed fingers that she wouldn't run out of mana before the djinn. The greater demon was a bit disappointing for level 33. Especially against my "superman-ed" fighter with the *light sword*

I had a really tough time with this fight too. I think summoning elementals is a bad idea though. I summoned two, and they were both promptly turncoated and used against me. There should be an auto banish function for stuff you summoned. For some reason the soul eater charged me and the rest of the demons stayed back to throw spells. Thus killing the soul eater was pretty easy. I would suggest casting buffing spells, superman, guardian angel and then rush into melee. I found that most spells I cast didn't work on the demons and in fact get reflected right back at me with eye for an eye. I couldn't kill them effectively at range even though I had ranger, fighter, valkerie, and gadgeteer, all with great range weapons and attacks. So rush in for melee as soon as soul eater is dead. The demons are pretty weak with their melee attacks and in fact usually keep casting the same spells no matter what range you are in. The difference is that you do a ton more damage up close. Oh yeah, if you can, drink an eye for an eye potion or something. Thus their pandemoniums affect them too. They seem rather susceptible to their own spells.
