"magic with group"
I'm new and have question with what members of group can have magic. I have Human Monk, Felpurr Samurai , and Hobbit Gadgeteer in my group. I didn't choose pictures that match each race, I don't think it matters, because I have Elf Bishop I gave a human face to and his magic shows for each upgrade; the others listed above don't show any blue magic line and I'm on the upper level of Monastery at 4th level for my party. I don't know about the Hobbit Gadgeteer, but the other two (human monk-felpurr samurai) don't show any magic. What gives a character a blue magic line that can increase from start of game? I understand race and profession - but does picture you choose matter?, or does it take time into game-and/or what you choose in HP?

1. "RE: magic with group"
hybrid classes like samurai, monk, lord, valkyrie, ninja, ranger dont start using magic until level 5. Pure magic users can use magic from the start. Gadgeteers, Bards, Thiefs and Fighters dont use magic at all (gadgeteers and bards use magic items and instruments).

race and picture have nothing to do with the ability to use magic (although race determines how effective you are but picture and voice have no impact whatsoever)

FYI Bards are magic users yheir insturments are magic. Gadgeteers are non-magic users their gadgets are scientific in nature. To prove thus go to the non magic area of the monastery and try to use both the bard is silenced the gadgeteer is not.

and another thing, the Magic Instriments are unaffected by Power Cast Expert Skill. so Intelligence for a Bard is generally useless, except as the secondary stat in lockpicking and trap disarmment.
