"Did I do something wrong"
Hello all,

Me again here. I was wondering something here. When I first got Wiz 8 a friend of mine showed how to do the no CD fix. Now when I click on something with the wrong item I crash to desk top. And when I have the hand cursor on items that should work with no items liek the catapult It says something about the 7th ough and I look preplexed and put the item away.

So my question is should I start over and uninstall the game and reinstall? And then apply all the patches. If so anyone know of the best site to get the patched at?

Thanks for all your help,
Atnoe

.. what the "no CD fix" is ... was something broken

I woudl bet that is where your problems are coming from, but you may not have to start all over. Probably depends on what this "fix" was. You can probably save off your saved games, unistall, reinstall, apply the patch, then copy your saved games back in.

Once site is as good as the next for the patch.

As always, using a no-CD crack is a risk. I have never seen that type of vehavior in Wizardry 8 so, I would think that it is the problem.

The game does not access the CD so why do we need "no-cd" patch/crack? Just put the cd in the drive, it'll stay there put.

Correct, but if you don't have the CD? This "crack" fools the executable into believing that the game CD is there.

Most people use this "crack" for running illegal copies of a game.

The only legitimate reason I can see for using this is if you install on more than one machine(all yours) but don't want to carry the CD back and forth.

I bought 3 copies of Wiz8. One is still un-opened in the box.
One installed at home and another here at work. I did not want to carry the game CD between home and work.

The 3rd one is for collecting purposes. It will never be opened.
