"Light sword"
Just trying to get some perspective. I am trying to get the light sword from the Buccaneer Ghosts. How many reloads did it take you all before getting it?

Well lets see now. I tried one time 18 times without a light sword drop. got tired. Next time, 12 time without a drop. Later game got one the first time!!!

2. "Not being a reload for treasure type ..."
... I didn't know it existed for a long time .. I think my 5th or 6th time through I got it in the hut in Bayjin. Never have got one from the ghosts.

I've probably reloaded about 20+ times already and all it ever gives me are VaporRisors. One time I got 6 of them from the ghosts. Guess when I reach 50x's...time to move on...haha

I actually kept track of my attempts (second time through the game, this time with import party who had orginally had the sword in 7 to begin with and wanted it back!)

I'd have to say I tried over 170 times altogether. I didn't realize at first that I could save before I fought them rather than before I entered the map area from gigas caves. When I finally realized that I played 157 times (I kept track on a piece of paper) until I finally got a sword drop.

I'm a fool sometimes!

Oye!!! I don't know if I need the sword that badly...i'm now at 30x...i don't know if I have the patience to do that 6x's what I already did...

2 banish spells will kill all ghosts in one round. Sneak along the rock wall and then along the sunken ship. Save your game just before you see a ghost. Run straight forward until combat starts.
I never did replay enough times to get a sword.

I've only gotten it once from the ghosts, but 4 times from the single-sentry Bayjin chest. The chest is guaranteed to have something, the ghosts are not.

The first two teams that met the ghosts got NO drops in 12-15 tries total. The next few teams got 2-4 drops per fight. When one of the teams finally got a light sword (after getting an Excalibur from Davy Jones Locker) I went to the Bayjin chest intending to get a light shield. I got a light sword on the first try. They later got another Excalibur somewhere.

I only had one sword-user on that team, everyone else was Cane Corpus or Mystic Spear.

I got a light shield the first(and only) time i fought those ghosts,i thought they might drop the light sword as well, but didn't even tried to get it.Now that I know for sure that it can be dropped I will try to get it... well, at least for a few times or I'll go crazy like you guys so anyway *cof* who the hell is Davie Jones?

Just a pirate from folklore, I believe. "Davy Jones Locker" is a familiar saying, though I don't know where it originated.

I am a mythology buff so let me tell you what I know about Davy Jones' Locker.

Basically Davy Jones' Locker is a metaphor for the ocean floor. Supposedly, Davy Jones the pirate sunk all the ships he took over along with any sailors still left on the ship, dead or alive. So when someone says, "he's gone to Davy Jones' locker" means he's at the bottom of the ocean. There is also an appendage to this lore where after his death, he became an evil spirit that presides over storms and hurricanes forewarning or even causing a ship to sink or a person to drown.

Just a bit of mythology for you.

cool.
i knew the saying and what it inferred, but didn't know the rest. thanks.

i am not queasy about reloading to get good stuff, but i don't think, in all my games with all my Blonde Brigades, i ever ever ever got the Light Sword.

once i reloaded nearly 30 times, at the ghosts. that's a LOT to me (157 times seems impossibly interminable). and i'm glad i saved a couple of the earlier drops, because it seemed the more i reloaded, the worse the loot got. i ended up with a light shield, but that's as close as i have ever come to owning the Light Sword. boo-hoo.

i admit i cheated one in just to see it and admire it's fine qualities, but i couldn't keep it. felt too guilty. ::rolls her eyes:: damn conscience.

Just an update. I tried to reload over 50 times at the ghosts but nothing. I got the Emerald Talisman (+10 dex, +2AC), that is the 2nd best I ever got. I also got about 3 VipoRizors (or something like that) out of it. The closest I got to the Light Sword was the Sword of the Damned.

Now I am at Bayjin trying to get the Sword. I have reloaded almost 10 times but still nothing. If I still don't get it after another 40 tries, I will have to give up (for sanity's sake).

16. "Remember the "right" way to reload ..."
The chest in the hut in Bayjin is one of those "set on entry" treasure lists. So, just standing in front iof it, opening it, reload if you don't get the treasure you want ... won't work. To reset the "randomizer" on the chest, you have to exit and re-enter the Bayjin scene.

Oh ya, I know. I have a save outside of Bayjin and I enter it for the first time every fight. Just haven't had any luck getting the damn sword.

Actually, I got a *Light Shield* the one and only time I beat Nessie. (I haven't gotten to play much. I need a new computer....) I don't know if that's common or not, but another place to look for those rare items.

Have to admit I've gotten neither Light Sword nor Shield. Got Excaliber once and dumped it (did the same in Wiz 7 as well). Right now I've got the Coc (FN), Flame Staff (Monk) and Fang (fighter). Vi uses the Stun Staff and RSF-81 fights barehanded w/Boomerang Shuriken as missile weapon. Doubleshot Crossbow for the Bard. Vampire Chain for Bishop and Staff of Doom for mage round it out. A fairly good colection I do belive. If I get the LS fine, if not, life goes on.
