hbk21god (0 posts) Sep-28-02, 06:33 AM (Pacific) "Strategy Guide Discrepancies" For those of you who have the Wiz 8 Strategy Guide I have a some questions. I read one other post about errors in the strategy guide. I have noticed some other pieces of information that I question. Under QUEST NPCs Myles is listed with locations of Arnika and Rapax Castle. The quest portion mentions the 3 quests that he provides. It also says that we can "release Myles from the Rapax Castle Prison and join him in looting the Rapax weapons stash." I have not made it to this part of the game, but I have not read in any posts regarding Myles that he is in the Rapax prison. Is Myles in the Rapax prison? Under Recruitable Player Characters Tantris' notes states "Will join your party if you're aligned with the T'Rang, but will exit when meeting Z'Ant at Ascension Peak(though he will leave his sword, Stinger)." 1st: Has anyone been able to keep Tantris around so that he can go with to Ascension Peak? Meaning he has not disappeared, never to be found again. 2nd: Has anyone brought Tantris along to Ascension and met Z'Ant at Ascension Peak? I have also noticed discrepancies with item descriptions such as weapons and armor. The fact that so little information is given about each item you would think that they would not make any mistakes. The Wiz8 strategy guide also lacks depth and detail in the walkthroughs. With Don Barlone for example. Under the T'Rang aligned walkthrough. When killing Don Barlone the book says you would receive the Astral Dominae, Amulet of Asphixiate and Thieves Dagger. But in fact you receive the Cane of Corpus. In lower Trynton, their is the one pot that is not burning. I have read a post stating that you use incense to start it, but that is not true. I have not found anything to work at starting this flame. Has anyone found anything to work or is this an error in the game? In the Pagoda you use 4 bags of incense on the floating pots. Like others who have stated their disappointment with the strategy guide I to am disappointed. I like the Wiz6 and Wiz7 strategy guides a great deal more then the Wiz8 strategy guide. "RE: Strategy Guide Discrepancies" I think some quests were never implemented in the game due to time constraints and/or loss of funding in the 11th hour. Myles' voicefiles still have lines about being imprisoned in the Rift, and he isn't hexed or anything if you bring him to the Rift, but AFAIK the imprisonment subplot never happens in the game. Has anyone had an experience to the contrary? There was apparently also going to be something more complex going on with the Rapax King/Queen/Prince/Assassins and some closure with meeting the Trang and Umpani on Ascension Peak which also got scrapped. Besides the brazier in Trynton, there is also a well in the Northern Wilderness (I think--same place you find Myles' diamond) which tinkles if you click on it but has no visible effect. I don't know what it was originally supposed to do but I'm pretty sure it didn't do anything by the time the game got to me.   Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

What does the guide say about the queen and her uncomplete(able) quest? I think (from what I have heard), that it is not as accurate as the Wiz 7 guide was ... probably of more nostalgic value than anything else. If you want to sell it, let me know ...
