"Blue Feather and things :)"
Just finished Wiz. It was kinda sudden!! Oh well, I guess I will just play again eh? I thought I might look here to discover some secrets that I missed. I sussed the runes, but never figured out what items were needed to enter the secret dungeons. Anyways, I read 4 or so pages here and did not come across a couple of things I found.
1. Give the blue feather to Fuzzfas and he makes a special potion, though I couldn't really see exactly what the hell it was he made.
2. What is the point of the incense and lighting the 4 torches in Trynton? It says something about "you can rest now" but I never really got that.
3. At some stage (I was tired sorry) He'li gets excited and celebrates (maybe when you find the DD??) and she says something like "...I am going to throw in something special....my body!!!" (er, I had made remarks about her breasts several times, to which she replied that she would bash my face against a wall) LOL

A cuppla questions
The last Umpani mission I got was to meet them on Ascension Peak.
Well, I went there and expected to find them, but ended up finshing the game instead?!! Where are they? I only ever got the Lev 5 card.

The Al-Sedexus thing was umm, surprising. I had followed the story well (I think?) prior to meeting the Rappax in the Rift, and all of a sudden, instead of Dark Savant and CM/DD/AD, I have Al-Seduxus. I may not be putting this well, there seemed a 'gap' in the story, (or is this a gap in my brain

Great game, though I felt it a little short and a little easy. I better play it again now I think

To enter the dungeons you need a) Dagger - Cemetery dungeon, b) Long Sword - Mtn Wilderness, c) Short Staff - N Wilderness.

The potion Fuzzfas makes with the blue feather is a Pwr 6 Earthquake potion - very nice!

Using the incense in the four braziers makes the constantly respawning critters stop. Basically it gives you a completely monster-free magic-free place to rest.

Yes, He'li does do that but doesn't follow through and that bit of dialogue was NOT in the written portion.

If you noticed some dead bodies while wandering around the peak, they are apparently supposed to be the Umpani and T'Rang. It's not an actual mission to meet them there. As for the card, you should have been given a top level pass so you could go up to the Mt Gigas peak and use the gun there to shoot down the DS's ship. Did you not do that or did you mistake the Peak reference by the general to mean Ascension Peak?

Al-Sedexus was one of those side plots, I think. I really think she was just dreamed up to give you an opportunity to make the Templars like you for awhile so you didn't have to kill your way through the Castle. Of course, you end up having to kill your way through the Away Camp and if you don't have a portal set in the Rift areas then you have to kill your way back to the teleporter to Ascension Peak but hey, at least you got a respite, right? ;)

HUH! Mt Gigas peak! DOH!
I could have SWORN that he said Ascension Peak? Dammit. hehe, the funny thing is, I never even KNEW of Mt Gigas Peak until I finished the game and started reading up (here and elsewhere) before replaying. I am curious now, curioser and curioser

I will load my save and see exactly WHAT my journal says.

Well, at one point Yamir does tell you they'll all meet you up on Ascension Peak but I thought that was after you blew up the ship. I could be wrong though. Of course, they aren't in much of a condition to help once you're up there, are they?

You have to deal with Al-Sedexus to make that gate to ascension peak open up. I dont know any other means to go to the ascension peak. Anybody?

I think he was commenting on the fact that the whole Al-Sedexus thing just seemed to be a bit on the weird side -- at least that was my take on it. It's not like there's any real point to it except to make the Rapax temporarily friendly and bring some gratuitous sex into the game.

Sure, you've got to do it in order to get to the portal but that's more of a side issue to me. I know they foreshadowed it from the monastery but I would have liked to see them really play killing her up into more of a major quest. I mean, heck -- it was more difficult to kill the elementals to get through the initiation than it was to kill her and that was WITHOUT the special demon-focused weapons. I think it might have been more interesting to do it more like they did the final battle in the first Realms of Arkania release (also by Sir-tech) where you only have one character fighting and they HAVE to use a special weapon and it's a much more dangerous match. As it was, she lasted less than half a round and I almost messed up my Templar rating because after she died my characters started fighting the spawned Rapax and I killed one of them as well before the 1st round ended.

Ah well - Wiz 8 is still a superlative game. It's just that everyone can always find things they wish were different.

Same feeling here... she died SO quickly... I killed two of the templar. She either needs to be much harder... or maybe paralize all but the initiate... or something like that...

yes Jem, he was commenting as you interpreted. I just felt that the Al-Sedexus thing was not linked with the main story, despite the very early reference to her. It makes me wonder is she was PLANNED to take a greater role, but due to time/money etc, she never made it

Now, here's a question that is going to be asked a lot, so I'll get in early

Were the sales good enough to justify a Wiz 9???
I'll place my advance order NOW!

My son and daughter have been watching me and are entranced. I actually found my Crusaders of teh Dark Savant floppies, and they are INATACT (gasp!) but alas, the box and rules are long gone. Anyone have the electronic copy that came with Wiz Gold?
It would be much appreciated, I know my kids will thank you (and so will I since they will be out of my room!) lol

Sadly, even though there were plans for a Wiz9 and even Wiz10 (!)the chances for a sequel are about the same as for winning the lottery. Sir-Tech has stopped their computer gaming development. I don't expect sales to be comparable to blockbusters like Diablo2 or Baldur's Gate since there is no distributor outside of America, AFAIK. I may be wrong for Asia or Australia, but in Europe there is none that I know of. I had to import my copy via a German PC-Shop and it cost me about 65 US$. This is a pretty steep price, even though I don't regret a single cent for this great game...

I thought I read about two years ago that they had found a publisher in Russia. Wouldn't that be an option for Europeans to buy from? Or was that just to do the game in Russian and not other languages?

I prefer ordering via a country that is a little closer to mine.

And my Russian is limited to what I learnt from Ivan Dolvich in Jagged Alliance...
