"Duet Party"
I'm on my third time through the game now but I'm already thinking of my next party. The first time I used all six slots and had two NPC's pretty much the whole game. The second time I used six again but didn't take any NPC's. Now I have four in my party and no NPC's. I'd been trying to work my way down to the solo fairy ninja I've heard so much about, but taking only two in my next game has already got me losing sleep. Do I take a Fighter and a Bishop? Or maybe a Rouge and a fairy Ninja to learn about the COC? But what about a Ranger? I'm pulling my hair out trying to come up with the best combination but I'm afraid I'll get through half the game and want to start over (which I've done alot already actually). Can you all give me your thoughts on the pros and cons of different combinations of a two character party?

And when you say "solo fairy ninja" does that mean no NPC's? I assumed that it did but I've had a pretty tough time with four in my party, I can't imagine having only one.

Haven't slept yet, why start now?!

Fairy ninja and bishop is how I would go. Make them both female to take advantage of certain female only stamina regeneraters in the game.

... between your parties as they got smaller, adn how your tactics changed. Then take that on a logrithmic scale down to the solo party. I only got so far with an imported elf ninja, then gave up.

The female ranger seems to be the easiest choice for the solo party (seems like saying it is easier to lift a car than a truck), so is probably a good choice for the duet ... and I always say the more fighters the better, so maybe a fighter/ranger duet.

a ninja -> ranger sounds good. melees in close combat and with Bows, is nice. Ninja's Stealth helps tremendously, and Ranger has more armor, which greatly enhances his/her armor class.
just remember to keep your distance, until you paralyze the enemies (or they run out of stanima and magic), as then you can practice close combat skills like Hands&feet, then heal him up, and then continue beating and healing it up. kinda like free practice. and, as you hit it, it's stanima goes down a bit.
bishop is nice, too. all spell realms covered, just remember that if s/he is silenced, only the alchemist's stats will apply, meaning that heal wounds spell will be greatly reduced in power, if you haven't a high enough alchemy skill.
