"Dancing with Death(lords)"
If this is old news, please be patient.
I'm really chuffed at having acquired the lazurite stone at character level 9/10. I noticed it as I edged around the corner of the imposing temple. Then peeked around the corner to see the waiting hordes - enough to know that my party is nowhere near high enough to take them on. Throwing caution to the wind, I tried a dash into the open space and promptly got pounded into the dust. Suitably impressed by the calibre of the enemy my brave warriors were then reloaded to stand at the very edge of the building and shoot the single visible cultist. That worked well for 2 rounds until I got pounded again by area spells.
Then - the brainstorm. What had the Deathlords ever done to me? Apart from killing me on our first two encounter we had a very non-violent history, right? So after initiating combat my intrepid band ran in, snaffled the booty and bolted out again. Still I was chased for about 15 rounds of combat but all's well that ends well.

BTW - am i right in saying that the "world map" is not quite correct. I reached the SEW from the swamp which doesn't appear possible from the path indicated on the diagram.
Any other anomolies?

1. "What path indicated in what diagram?"
... In the manual, none of the wilderness areas are specifically labelled. I would say the Northern wilderness, is more like the NW and SE is more Eastern, and mountain is all northern .... hardly matters the name though.

Apparently they were named bak in the day before they could do arial maps

The "official" world map is the first on the list. This is the one that has no link between Swamp and SEW. However if you scroll down to the map of the swamp, the SE trail leads to the SE wilderness. Strange because the NE trail leads to the mines and the S trail goes to Marten's Bluff - that places the Wilderness between the two. Not in keeping with the picture above. That would mean that the mine cart travels underneath the SEW. Where's that Shovel from Wiz7?

4. ""official" .... needs those quotes"
In the manual, there are no lines and no labels for almost have of the things listed there ... it sure looks official, may be the map from the hint guide. It is missing a connection or two as well, like rapax to arnika (either teleporter) or umpani to arnika road, trang/martens bluff to the four locations the teleports will take you ...

Anyhow, yes, the SE wilderness is connected to the swamp and connects to the mountain wilderness ... and mine tunnels do connect to Martens bluff ... through the mine tunnels of all things

The longstem spade? It transfers.

However I doubt you'll have much time digging at the speed those carts are going...

Ahh the death lords cultists and sorcerer queen, i ran it at about charcter lv 13/14, got my but handed to me of couse, then i too had a brain storm, i backed up, initated combat and then hid on the other side and waited for 2 rounds. Then at the end of thoes two rounds i had 3 of my charcters use eye for an eye poitons, and form their out the death lords did the work. Death wish and cloud of death killed off all the cultists, 6 elementals and the sorcerer queen. In the process i only lost one of my charcters, for my soul sheild and magic screen were up of course, it was then short work, 2 rounds, to drop both of the death lords.
