"lower monastery -- I'm stuck!"
Hi guys, I just started playing and I'm already stuck in the lower monastery area (the place where you start out). I was told to scout out the area. And I'm stuck. There's a door, but I don't know how to open it.

Paul

The only door you can't open right now is the crypt chamber door. You need to go to Arnika to get the Wheel Key from the temple there. The barred door on the second floor can be opened from the other side, you just have to travel around to the other side of the current floor level to find the door to enter there. Just keep exploring and you'll find it. Good luck.

Most doors just require you to be close enough to open them .. once you are close enough just move the mouse over it, it should turn into a hand icon, then click to open.

that was the problem. I didn't know what button to press to open the door. Thanks so much guys for all your help. I feel so stupid -- I should have tried using the mouse!

... that the interface is very intuitive ... when you want to do something, try it .... it normally works. Somethings that are not so obvious is "using" specific items.

Sometimes you will click the "use" icon, click the item to use, then optionally a target. Other items require you to take the item from inventory, exit the review screen (so your mouse cursor turns into the item), then click on the target.

Other than that, whenever you want to know more, right click on something (and check your journal after significant events ... sometimes more info is written there than what transpired).

The automap is deceptive. A higher level can overlay a passage on the lower lever. Search carefully around the skeleton on the floor and find a tunnel with knock picks in it. There is a locked door at the end. Search the room carefully, the crossbow is very well hidden.
