"A few questions about skills"
These may be really dumb questions, but I haven't been able to find them on the forum, so:

1) When a skill's number is in green on the stats page, what does that mean? I see in the manual that blue should be a bonus and red a detraction, but on my stats page the numbers themselves are all either white or green.

2) Some of my skills can't be increased at leveling-up time. Any idea why not? Can you not level them up past a certain number? The skills in question are at 70 or 80 or so.

3) What governs whether a spell skill naturally increases or not? I mean, is it a random chance for Wizardry to increase every time you cast a mage spell, or is it that after casting x magic points worth of mage spells it will increase?

1. "A few answers "
1) I think that green indicates it has increased since the last level up.

2) Skills can only be increased through prctice, once they reach 75.

3) I think it is random and use. I don't think you will get random increases for those you don't use. I think that there is a random chance to increase when it is used and either the percent chance increases with use and/or time.

1) green means skill has increased during the past 8-24 hours; it could have gone up 10 minutes ago and would be green. once it has been 8-24 game hours, it returns to white, unless, of course, it increases again.

You are only as brave as the challenges you take on

If you switch tabs from the magic/skills page to the main character page then back again you will see all of green turn white. The next time any of these skills increase it will turn green again. This comes in handy when you get a bunch of increases after a big fight and you don't feel like scrolling through the message logs to find out what they are. After every fight you can check the skills for increases(green) switch tabs to another page then back again and all of the increased skills will now show white again. The time duration reference above is incorrect.

I think it is random, use and attributes. You will notice that e.g. a weapon skill you learn later in the game will go up much faster since your characters already have the required attributes at high levels.
A ranger on the other hand may be stuck at certain skill level for alchemy because he just not smart enough.
So, attributes - I think - heavily influence the chance of a skill to raised - mabe someone can confirm this?

1. It is green if the skill has increased since -you- checked it. e.g. look at the screen it is green. then look to another screen in the character section and come back. green is gone.

2. After 75 you need practice as it goes to 100 you need more and more practice against "higher level monsters". an idea: get a high level monster, cast stone body and stamina on yourself not to be killed. And attack the moster but dont kill it, heal it in the meantime. Also have a body stone spell on it so that its hit points will not diminish fast. if the monster is higher than your level or close then this strategy will level up your skills a lot.

3. spell is similar. say wizardry. you cast spells in certain fields, you get increases in these areas five times, then most probably your wizardry will increase too. to get higher spell skills you need to cast the spells more and more. I am sure there is a ratio btw the wizardry increase and spell realm increase like 1 to 4. e.g. 75->76 you need 4 increases for wizardry but 1 increase for the spell realm. the number of spells (also the power level is important assume it is highest) that is needed to increase the wizardry by 1 depends on your current wizardry level. e.g. 10 times level 7 armorplate is needed for divinity to go from 80 to 81. It will be 11 for 81 to 82. and 12 for 82 to 83. These numbers are just examples and I dont know the formula.
Also the number of spell casts is kept in your character statistics but you dont see it. Definitely it is not random.

Additional note:
I also believe intelligence is a ratio how fast you get your skills up.
