"Mixing Powders/Potions"
Does anyone know if there is a handy list on any of the Wiz8 Walkthru sites that list what potions and Powders can be merged by an Alchemist?

I want to build my ranger's alchemy skill but can't figure out how beside using skill points as he levels. Right now his skill is only at 11... and all the recipes I have found require level 15+.

Is there a way to build the skill beside using the points you get when you level? I am hoping you build the skill when you combine potions and powders... but then i'd need to find recipes that work before lvl 15 skill.

thanks

4. "Cast spells"
There are some that can be cast outside of combat, for "practice". Like Light, Heal, Stamina, ... even if you don't need them.

You can just find a safe spot (like behind a closed door), and cast, rest, cast, rest, ...

And if my ranger casts these, it will (eventually) raise his alchemy skill? I was thinking thats the case from my EQ days... but his skill has never gone up (that I noticed) yet.. I guess its just a slow process.

Does it matter what power he uses or if he is successful in the cast in terms of skill building?

Thanks for the info!

From my own experience not sure. I have heard other people say on here that you should cast it at the highest possible level you can. i.e. the highest level that is yellow or green.

as far as i can tell, it doesn't make any difference. I seem to get as many increases at level 1 as level 7. but, when using a spell that can not backfire, like heal wounds, using a red circle means you will fizzle more, again, it doesn't seem to make a difference for increases, you can increase with success or failure. but, the spell must be able to do something for you to get an increase. this means if you fizzle heal wounds, the wounds are not healed and you can try again.

Yes, casting does inscreas the skill ... both of the profession (i.e. alchemy) and of the school (i.e. fire, divine, etc.). YOu don't get and increase every time, but the more you practice, the more increases you will get.

A few people have stated they think you ave more of a chance for increase on a high level cast (whether successful or not) ... I have seen many increases on high casts ... but increases are fare and few between, especially at low character levels and skills.

Just like other skills, I think once you get beyond 10 or so, you start seeing more increases ... that could lend credence to any theory that said you get more increase for successful use of a skill ....

but, definitly when you get to 90, the increases come few and far between. getting from 98 to 99 to 100 takes a lot of effort.

when you start out your INT is relatively low so increases are slow in coming, as your INT increaes, your skills go up more often, then as you get really high in both spellbook and realms, they go up slower and slower and ....
