Have you found the swamp?The entrance to the Mine tunnels is found in the north part of the swamp. The swamp is divided by a river with a bridge that you must cross going north. From here keep to the right and you will come across an area with some nice goodies. Keep to the right and you will eventuly come across the mine entrance. There are some nasty bugs just inside the entrance, or atleast I was attacked there and had to go back to level up before getting in further than the entrance.
One thing that might be of help is using a search pattern when entrering a new area in the game. For example, I like to always keep to the right side and follow the whole new area around its outside perimiter. Using ther automap on the lower left side of the screen then will allow you to see any dark or unexplored areas and then go toward them to explore the rest of the area.
