Okay, folks, I've done it!!!
After four and a half sweet weeks of plaing Wiz8 I've completed it yesterday. It's a great game and I don't regret investing 60 ($70) for importing it. But...I must say that it is far too easy!
The riddles (at least the game critical ones, there are some things in Rapax castle that I haven't done) are mostly finding an item and using it later in the same area. And most things are pretty obvious, no need for merging items (I loved the bottle oracle thing in Wiz6) and the like. And you can be certain that the NPC's on Dominus are kind enough to give you tips about any harder riddles. This said I have to say that I consider myself an apprentice riddle-solver. The Maps in Wiz7 were a mystery to me...
The regular fights are usually far too easy. Once I figured out some tactics and reached a decent level (finished 22-24) no monster could really harm me. Scorchers only did 2-3 points of damage, the Rapax maybe 4-5 with their fireballs etc. I didn't even have to use the best armor or the cleverest combination of amulets to get rid of most monsters. And my Monk and Lord were wrongly developed for the first 10 Levels...
A little bit different are the "specials", like Rapax Prince, Nessie, DS, Al Sedexus and the like. There I sometimes needed two or more tries. The Djinns on Ascension peak were tough, for example. But others are boring. Nessie was dispatched in the first try, same goes for the Rapax Prince, AlSedexus, DS (twice!) and PeeWee (he didn't even damage me!). This is a bit frustrating! Maybe a Bard using her Dulcimer of mending all the time is a bit too strong!
And btw., I didn't turn to "expert", because at the end I was a bit annoyed with the puny monsters on ascension peak and just wanted to finish the game without having to fight too many monsters ("expert" = more monsters, faster respawn etc. ?).
While I consider myself a Wizardry-Expert, I don't think that this helps too much in Wiz8 regarding tactics etc.
Just my two cents
