"We can't leave it at that!"
Just finished game for first time and it won't be the last! It's a splendid game.
My point is that surely we can't just let it end there. Is there any way we can convince Sirtec (or anyone else for that matter) that we must have more of the same?
Failing that use the same engine for another series or even redo Wiz5,6+7 with this engine then we can play Wiz8 again with a party we've taken through all the games.
There must be something we can do, anyone got any ideas???

Economics will decide. If Wiz 8 proves profitable enough for all involved then there will no doubt be a Wiz 9. Either through Sir-Tech or through some licencing arrangement.

The people demand a Wizardry 9! And if 8 is anything to go by, I definitely want the same team doing the next one. One thing does puzzle me though: When you finish the game (there are 3 endings for those of you who haven't) your party is saved in Ending.sav. For those of you who have finished, this begs the question of: What could you do in 9 that would require you to be what you are at the end of 8? Seeing as how parties from 6 (Bane) came to 7 (CODS) and onto 8 (which doesn't have a subtitle), the savegame ending should lead to 9. That's the only possibility. But there doesn't seem anything else to do once you complete the quest in 8. Possible (plausible) plotlines for 9 would be appreciated. If you've finished 8 and think you might have an idea about the story for 9, let's hear it.
It was like that when I got here.
Bob

Maybe some clever programmers can do what they did with Jagged Alliance 2, which is use the basic game engine and create a new game with new missions etc around it and make it available for download off the internet. Although I am sure a vast 3D world would be much harder to program around than the Jagged Alliance game structure. just a thought....

Just being a bit creative there can be several reasons why/how you could do a Wiz8->Wiz9 import and follow some story line.
Heres some I came up with just off the top of my head..

1. You get tired of being a "God" so you turn yourself back into a mortal and have yourself thrust upon some new world with a new adventure to begin.

2. After being a cosmic lord for a long while you realize that the next ascension is coming and you must step aside for the new cosmic lords (just as the previous ones did for you) and you come to find out that "stepping aside" means you enter a whole new yet unexplored world/universe in which you begin a new journey.

3. After being a cosmic lord for a short while you are visited by a much more powerful cosmic lord and you find out there are many cosmic lords and since you're new you're a very weakling one - and this powerful cosmic lords sends you on a quest through the universe in which you fight cosmic monsters and travel to different worlds in this quest.

Thats 3 just off the top of my head - if I had to think about it I could probably come up with some more.

Phoonzang comments in one ending about how there are many seats on the circle to fill.

I guess you could also have the new cosmic lords 'sponsoring' a new group of adventurers - each old party member could grant an extraordinary bonus to one of the new party, depending on their finishing stats/skills/equipment. Might be a bit different...

There sure is. Send them a ##### load of money.

Sir-Tech has already stated that Wiz 8 would end this story line, and Wiz 9 would begin a whole new one. Some of the suggestions above are interesting, however, the are reaching quite a bit to come up with something to keep the story continuing.

If Sirtec is anything like Westka, you can just forget it. I played through w8 and can't seem to be satisfied either. Now Westka, as an example, completely abandoned Arcatera. It was never correctly coded to end the way it was supposed to and the second patch did little if anything. They just don't respond to any form of enquiries what so ever, yet the game was released and it made them lot's of money.

Giving a game like w8 a final save option, then closing game sequels is like getting off the horse in the middle of a raging stream. It's just not a smart thing to do.

11. "One of the reasons...!"
If you go back into the archives of the original Wiz 8 board, you will find the information that Sir-Tech was trying to market a package (Wiz 8 and development of Wiz 9) which is why they had so much trouble getting a publisher. In order to put out Wiz 8 they finally had to break up the package. If Wiz 8 makes a whole lot of money perhaps the company can be revived and a Wiz 9 can be produced but as of this time that prospect id EXTREMELY unlikely.

Side note to Linda and the company.

I apologize if I have misinterpreted anything that I read on the original board. While I and the many many Wizardry fans would love the thought of a Wiz 9, I for one don't want you and the fine people at Sir-Tech going broke to do it. Wiz 8 all but killed the company and while it is in my opinion the best CRPG in the world to date, the loss of Sir0tech is/was too high a price to pay for it.

10. "RE: We can't leave it at that!"
Some other plausible story lines could be:
1)Maybe the Dark Savant had done some dirty deeds that need to be corrected in other galaxies. After all, he was roaming the universe for some time.

2)Maybe the T'rang and/or Umpani have some campaigns that they would like assistance with, or the new T'rang/Umpani union would like assistance searching unexplored galaxies.

There are numerous routes that could be taken in Wiz 9: The Wrath of the Dark Savant.
These routes could include the T'rang, Umpani, new civilizations, or also fixing the wrongs that were commited in the past.
For example, correcting the dark deeds of the Bane King and Xorphitus from Wiz 6 and rebuilding the kingdom that once thrived!

Just some of my thoughts!
Thanks,

12. "Meddling with Fate"
Has anyone else noticed that Wizardry 6 was called "The Bane of the Cosmic Forge"? Why Bane? Because everything that's written in the Forge turns against its writer, *Wizardry 6 spoilers ahead*the Bane King becomes a Vampire because he wanted eternal life, Xorphitus becomes two entities because he wanted to know everything and a single person can't bear to know everything, the Wizard's apprentice becomes a snake because he wants to be loved by the Queen's, who unfortunately likes snakes. And what do we do in Wizardry 8? We use the Cosmic Forge for our own wishes, don't we? This surely should turn back on us, I daresay.
Now there's a plot. Go write a game, someone

15. "RE: Meddling with Fate"
I believe in Bane that it is meantioned that the "BANE' effect only happens when the Forge is used outside of the Cosmic Circle. Which is why if you think about it that the Dark Savant never went after it. The "BANE" effect would nullify anything he did with it outside of rhe circle.

16. "And as with many "banes""
... maybe this one only turns out bad when used for yourself. If you use it for others (i.e. to save the world), then it is peachy
