"Round 3.9 question :) - How's my summoned help faring?"
Will there be any kind of display or indicators showing how our summoned/created help is fairing in battle? After recently creating life (in Wiz 7), I found that after many of my 5 Boring Beetles were paralyzed and dead, I wasn't really sire (after a few rounds) how many were left (nor of those, how many were still active).

Actually, I was wondering about whether we can put the monsters in out party formation--that is, stick them in certain spots around our party to help out better.

In Bane, you are given a small display, similar to what you get for your opponents, indicating how many summoned creatures you have and how many of them are "active" (as opposed to paralyzed, stoned, or asleep). It's too bad CODS/Gold took that out, forcing you to watch the combat messages VERY closely to try to determine how many helpers you have and how many haven't bitten the dust. When in doubt, in CODS, I would sometimes cast a 1st level summoning-type spell. If "nothing happens," I know I still have a summoned being around, whether or not it is functional.

Since Wiz8 is supposed to be a real 3-D world, hopefully you will actually be able to SEE your summoned comrades. Presumably you'll be able to see them on the "radar screen" as well, and I hope they will be somehow color-coded or otherwise marked to indicate they are friendly blips.

I doubt we'll be able to directly control them... at least we never could in the past as far as I know (which is back to Bane). But summoned help in a 3-D world is going to present all sorts of fun issues... like whether their area-effect spells and missle attacks can accidentally hit us! I will be much less favorably disposed to my summoned Skeleton Lords and Fieros if they start catching me in their fireballs and firestorms! Or if they set the forest we're in on fire... of course we could do that accidentally as well! But that's a whole other topic.

I hope these issues are resolved, because the summon spells are one of the coolest parts of magic in Wizardry, and I will be very disappointed if they are missing, watered down, or otherwise unusable in Wiz8.

4. "Scan, the estimate health at a glance (skill)"
I think that characters in fighting classes should be able to estimate the health of a friend or foe at a glance with a suitable command (like "scan"). That way you'd know how well your boring beetles, or other summons, were doing.
