"My Round 3 or is it 4 question."
Will there be a Gorrors in 8? Part of the incredible replayability for me has always been the Gorrors. I Keep a savegame of a level 50 non super team (no class changes) at the door to the thing. Decked out in their non hacked finest. Sometimes I hack in items, sometimes not, but I go in about once a month at least. Always a good way to kill an hour or so!

Great point -- if not specifically Gorrors, I love little side things, like really tough monsters or hidden dungeons, that don't really have anything to do with the game, but are just there to explore when we're bored with the main story line, or when we really want to test our characters.

2. "I had a similar thought yesterday"
(Luckily I remember it today )

I was thinking it would be cool to have an "arena", where you could pick two characters of any level, race, class and pit them against each other. (As I write this I am reminded of dog or cock fights, but that is not where this idea stemmed)

Just to see, hmm ... if a Level 10 Elf Mage were to go up against a level 12 Faerie Thief, who would win? Seems like it would be a nice testing feature as well, just to see what the characters (on their own using the AI) would come up with as strategies and modes of attack.

Of course, if they give us that, then we will want to take our party members and pit them (as a group or individually) against these made up characters (or groups of them).

First the product, then the bells and whistles

Of course, being the sadistic task-master that I am, I would want to set my characters up against each other -- in a non-lethal fight... but the loser has to sharpen the winner's sword for a month.

4. "I also had a similar thought recently"
Of course, this sounds very much like the basis for multiplayer -- a "comes later" modification. It would be neat to send your team up against itself, though, and see what the AI would do with your characters in a "balanced" fight. (What could be more balanced than a mirror image opponent?)

And what if this arena combat served another prupose. Like,f'rinstance, oh...say a "mimic" had infiltrated your character roster. And you had to discover the imposter thru the most dangerous of ways. Armed combat...to the death... and you would have to figure out which character the mimic had become. Guess wrong, you kill a member of your party.

Guess right, the thing morphs into its very deadly alien self and you have a huge fight on your hands. So the sooner you discern its true identity the more party members left to battle it/the better overall chance you have to defeat it.

Excellent! Shall we gather the troops? I can/would be delighted to write and/or edit.

We need a working title. How's about Death Masque? Friend or Foe?

8. "Oh, no, those won't do"
I've already had it picked out for a while now ... very original and captures the feel we want:

Avengers, Barbarians, Crusaders, Defenders, Elfs, Faeries, Gnomes, Heroes, Incubii, Jesters, Legends, Mages, Necromancers, Oracles, Paladins, Questors*, Rogues, Sorcerers, (Gypsies, Tramps and) Thieves, Undines, Vixens, Warriors, Yetii and Zen-masters of the Realms of Light and Dark, Might and Magic, Ying and Yang, and Twinkies and Ho-hos!

* had to go to the dictionary for that one

Ya know, that seems a bit wordy, even when you break it down to the acronym (which I live for). How about just RPG: Rick's Popular Game

Or, to go with the naming scheme already in place for this board, how about: Greatest RPG Fan's Forum's Greatest CRPG Game Ever!

Ok. Been working on "The Alphas" a while? Did you intentionally leave out K? Knights, I guess? X could be designated as the imposters slot or something like Xords. Or Xterminators. (You don't want to bug them.) (I've always wanted to do an X-Men series, Rick. Y'know...something like Xcretion--when it all hits the fans...but I suspect that's not the best way to try to get back in Marvel, huh?)

So where/when does RPGame take place?

Dummy! (me, that is) If you read down a little further, you'd see that Mojo already caught this. Go to your room without anymore candy until you've rolled up at least three new 20+ characters!

14. "Yes, I should have consulted ..."
My 3 year old, he knows his A, B, D's a lot better than I do these days. I'm lucky I kept my Trig book from college or I wouldn't have been able to explain the quadratic equation to the 15 year old the other knight

Man, it was pretty scary, looking at that thing and realizing I used to know what the heck it was and was for

15. "Two teams from two SAVEGAMES ?"
Put your never-class-changed level 50 team up against your class-changed 3 times level 25 team. Run all of your savegames against each other and find out which is best.

You could run 1 team AI vs your instructions, or instruct both teams.
