"Soloing Bane"
I've recently tried soloing in Bane with a cheated character (my test char for a scenario I'm working on), and I've noticed how easy it seems for 1 person versus 6 (the only advantage my cheated character has is that I set her race's base stats so she could change to any class). While I was doing this, it came to me why it seemed so much easier: Experience is split in Bane, so a single player party is getting 6x the XP!

I don't really have a point to make, it's just that, despite all the times over the years I've played this game (and never made it out of the castle due to my constant 'nope, don't like these characters anymore, time to start over' issue I have in nearly all RPGs), I never before noticed that XP was split.

Later, all!

Experience is split in almost any game of this type, and of course in Wiz7 and Wiz8.

With a few class changes a soloing character will walk through the game without a true challenge. It's too easy.

Hmm, I might try without a class change. But just can't decide which class... ;)

For Wiz7/8 I found the easiest single race/class is a Faerie Ninja. Especially for Wiz7 once you get the cane of corpus..

Not sure what the hardest would be - maybe a thief?

Just done this, is easier IMHO. With less characters to worry about, and greater simplicity, plus the extra experience you can quickly build up a powerful character.

I rolled a 24 and started with an Alchemist with max strength and vitality. This allowed me to get a strong character and quickly get the spells rolling, start with Heal Wounds, and quickly get one of the best spells in the game, Blinding Flash.

He coped very well early well early on, with some surprisingly big hits in combat. At around level 6 I changed to a Ninja, all the time adding to alchemy. This allowed the character to hide, extremely useful. I kept the Ninja until I had Asphyxiation and Deadly air which was sometime in the Amazulu Pyramid IIRC. Fire Bomb, Poison gas and Acid Bomb are useful spells too.

After this I took a Samurai to make use of mage spells and build up to Nuclear Blast, plus using the Murumasa Blade and Hammer 1.5, a formidable combo. A short stint as a Lord to build the Priest levels up, and back to Samurai completed the building.
