"Windows may be partially to blame . . ." |
Hey all, I recently installed my UWA games on my linux computer (much thanks to those of you who helped me figure this out). I was curious about the impact that Windows actually did have on the UWA level-up bug so I ran Wizardry 1 on DosBox and took a level 1 character down to the tenth floor got him some experience and ran him through a series of level ups. I can tell you, the level ups were definitely better on Linux than on Windows. I ran had five straight level ups and reloaded and did it again several times, and I observed that on my linux computer I got good level ups about as often as bad level ups (good being defined as mostly stat increases, bad as mostly stat decreases), more really good level ups than really bad level ups (really good being when stat increases drastically outweigh stat decreases, and really bad being vice versa) several awesome level ups (every stat increases) and no terrible levels (nothing but stat decreases and one hit point). So, initial observations provide more evidence that Windows is crap, destined to destruction, and that Linux kicks Microsoft's pathetic posterior. All hail the mighty penguin (well, Chameleon, since I have SUSE).
