"A question for the techno-junkies (or Windows folks)"
Well, I finally got around to installing Visual C++ a few weeks ago. I figured it had set (still in the shrink wrap) on the shelf for over a year, so maybe all the bugs had died off

But, still hanging on to Windows '95 (I try to never mess with something that works - mine does), I encountered a bit of a snag - about 1/3 of the way through installation my registry became full.

So, I have tried deleting stuff and using the latest regclean off the MS site, but to no avail. Every time I boot up, Windows still thinks there is some components left to set up and does so.

So, short of re-installing my operating system, is there anything out there that does what regclean claims to? (i.e. get rid of orphaned registry entries)

I've got Windows '98, but with *only* a 266 w/64MB of ram, I don't think my machine is up to it

Any suggestions?

1. "One word.....McAfee"
I'd try McAfee PowerClean if you can find a demo (try C|net's Download.com), or you can see if Norton has a similar program. I've been using McAfee's Office 2000 Professional, and I love it. Virus programs, security programs, and all kinds of nifty utilities.....or course I also run Win98 and I am considering Upgrading to ME, after I get my Laptop and try it on that first....

I did find a slough of links to other products on CNet, though, but have not had time to check them out yet.

I noticed that McAfee had trial software available on their website. Well, I would have never thought to look there (DOH!)

Shows you just how net-literate I am doesn't it.

It was more the fact that each new version of Windows seems to be more and more of a resource hog and my '95 + 266mhz + 64MB Ram = slow enough

'98 would probably be OK, if I didn't always have multiple applications running (that are also resource intensive).
