"Q about forum option"
what exactly is "archiving"?
I know it is a special area for really old posts, but is it also compressed?
I do understand file archiving as Zipping files and compressing them. does the forum archive do the same?

The archived version is more space efficient, and I think there is less tracking (number of views probably not updated and such).

BTW, there is a new and improved version of the forum software just released ... I will probably wait a little to see that it is fairly bug-free before upgrading again.

No other company can compete with it, but M$ themselves did. XP is gonna be a nice OS, until the hackers get in. And get in they will. I won't go into it here, but Uncle Bill really screwed up this time. (And almost did with Win2K, if it had been marketed for home use.)
