"Cheats Perhaps?"
Hi all! So I found a Wizardry 8 editor program, which I toyed with last weekend. I can recall four items in the editor which I had never seen before and am wondering if any of you know about them.

1. There is something called "Bela Powder #Trynton". I haven't tried to kill Bela very often, so I'm wondering if that's the typical way to get it? And what does it do?

2. There are "solar powerpaks" which recharge certain weapons like the Mystery Ray just like the regular powerpaks you can find in the swamp. However, they seem to disappear over time. (I guess they're not getting enough sun.) Any other differences? And is there a place in the game to find them without a cheat program?

3. There is a "hook and line" which I thought might be a carry over from Wiz 6 like the Diamond Ring. But in Wiz 6 it is a "rope & hook" and really weighs you down. In Wiz 8 it is light as a feather. I've never found this legally in the game. Where is it and what is it for?

4. Same questions for the "dead frog". This is different from the frog's leg quest item you can get from killing Brekek in the Swamp. Can this be found normally? And what do you use it for?

For what it is worth, I did not find playing with characters who can never be hurt and have skills so high they have little left to achieve very satisfying. But I am interested in these items I'd never seen before. Thanks for any insights!

A.J.

Oh yes, you are right about the hook & line. Thank you, forgot all about that in the Sea Caves.

After looking at these in Mad Gods editor:

1. Bela Powder #Trynton is not used anywhere in the game and does nothing at all.

2. hook and line is used in the game.

3. The Dead Frog is a 100% drop by Fuzzfas but it also doesn't have any function that I know of.

It sounds like you are using the editor on one of the mods. Get a copy of Dodds Mod v2.4, lots of new stuff in there. Also lots of stuff in Lana's mod.

I think Bela Powder was supposed to be used at the incense burner near the broken bridge with the sign "To Martens Pagoda".

For my own personal use, I upgrade the Geomancer/Hydromancers/etc Rings to cast Summon Elemental, and I set the casting distance to "thrown". I also duplicate the Lazarus Stone and make it a 10% drop on all ghost Trynnies. I use glowstones to mark a trail. They are great when you need to cross the swamp at night.
